MAC: Alluring Aquatic Collection Review + Swatches

Some people get heat palipattions at the sighting of a new MAC Limited Edition Collection, others are de-sensitized as there are so many it sometimes becomes hard to keep up with them all. I'm generally more of the latter so I so apologize if you may be sick of hearing about the MAC Alluring Aquatic Collection. There has been a lot of buzz and hype around this limited edition collection spreading quickly across Youtube, Beauty Blogs, Instagram, and throughout the beauty community. I think this collection was very sought after because the packaging is very eye-catching and unique. It is decorated in metallic aqua packaging with water droplets actually built onto the products which you can feel when you touch them. This is a point of difference from any other MAC products that I own, and I think it is an aspect that makes this collection stand apart from the others ...

As I said, I'm generally someone who rarely goes for MAC's limited edition collections. A lot of them don't appeal to me, especially those based on cartoon's, characters or movies. I'm not sure why but I just never really got into the hype. I also find it annoying when my MAC lipsticks aren't all matching. I made an exception here. For some reason I was really drawn to this collection. I thought it was really dreamy and whimsical. The colours are also very dull and muted which is gorgeous for winter here in Australia.

I picked up two items out of the collection:

Goddess of the Sea Lipstick

Described by MAC as "dark vibrant violet", it's a gorgeous medium berry colour with a cremesheen finish. This has good colour payoff - you can get a very opaque colour application on your lips with 2-3 layers. This lasted on me for about 4 hours through eating and drinking before I had to reapply it. I like MAC's cremesheen lipsticks and generally find them fairly hydrating but this varies for different people. Overall, I think it's a gorgeous colour and it is definitely unique to my collection for it's colour and packaging.

Sea Me, Hear Me Blush

This is a lovely blush colour, described by MAC as a "beige pink". I think it's actually more of a muted warm coral colour. I love this blush because it's extremely soft and silky with a satin finish, and has good colour payoff. This is a really blendable product, and you can build it up to your desired intensity although I find you really only need a small amount on your brush to achieve a very pretty flushed look. I love the way the extra dimension blush feels on the skin and it's very long-lasting. Overall, I'm pleased for picking this one up!

Well, those are my thoughts on the products that I picked up. What do you think?
Were you interested in anything from the collection? Did you pick up anything or are you awaiting another collection to arrive?

  1. Oh the lippy looks gorgeous! They were all sold out by the time I had jumped onto the website! I ordered the extra dimension bronzer in Aphrodites Shell, and the same blush as you See Me Hear Me. The packaging does look just beautiful though...I know what you mean about Mac collections... there are almost too many of them really! I think you chose well, products that you can use on an everyday basis...that was what my picks came down to! Lou xo

    1. Oooh, I hope you enjoy your purchases. Have you received them yet? I bet the bronzer will be nice. I love MAC and I think it's a great brand with some really good products but sometimes the hype gets out of control, especially for limited edition collections. I think we should still be cautious, and only buy products that are actually good on the inside, for what they're being used for and not just their pretty packaging hehe.

In love with my Enchanted One lipstick! My Mac counter was already sold out of the Sea me, Hear me blush... so I took it as a sign I didnt need it :(

    1. I don't own MAC Rebel but I recently saw a post of someone wearing it and it definitely looks very similar, like you said maybe just slightly less opaque. I'll post a picture of it on my lips tonight so you can see it better :) I've heard some great things about Enchanted One. I'd love to see a picture of you wearing it! Thanks for the comment pretty xx.

    1. Thanks so much Zoe! The picture of you wearing your MAC Rebel lipstick on IG actually reminded me a lot of Goddess of the Sea. I wish I owned it so I could tell you how similar they are or not. The blush is actually really unique and it doesn't look like any others in my collection. I wore it today and it lasts really well on the cheeks. Glad you liked it!!! xx
