Makeup Geek: My Custom Eyeshadow Palette

Can you ever have enough eye shadows? The answer is always NO! Especially if they are from Make Up Geek!

The lovely Jacquelyn had asked me to do a post on this a while ago, and I've finally got around to swatching my small (but pretty) collection of Makeup Geek eyeshadows. If you'd like to see my collection & what each shadow looks like, keep reading ...

If you aren't familiar with Makeup Geek it is a brand that was created by Beauty Guru Marlena Stell, who actually began her beauty journey through her Youtube channel where she'd review beauty products, film tutorials as well as make videos about her amazing weight loss journey. I had been following Marlena's videos for years so when she released her own cosmetics line, Makeup Geek (MUG), I was super excited to try some of her products!

If you'd like to know Marlena's top 10 favourite eyeshadows from her collection you can check them out here. The MUG Shop also sells other products of their line, as well as some products from other brands such as Sugar Pill and NYX. Shipping is very good to Australia. It's weight-based but for my z palette and 9 eyeshadows it was $12.42 USD for  Marlena still posts videos on her channel and has a beautiful blog which includes recipes, weight loss tips, beauty product reviews, tutorials and lots more.

Okay ... now that I have declared my love for Marlena, lets see my custom palette! This post is just going to include my palette & swatches. I also have some pigments from her line so if you'd like to see those, please let me know!

I bought a Small Dotted Leaf Z Palette ($14.99 USD) from the MUG store (which fits up to 9 Makeup Geek Shadows). On their website, Makeup Geek do offer a 9 Eyeshadow Starter Kit ($49.99 USD), which includes 9 popular matte and shimmer eyeshadow pans which you can fit into a small Z palette (sold separately). I'm more of a custom, make it yourself sort of person though, so I opted to create my own palette based on the swatches Marlena has on her site.

I tried to choose colours that I would use on a daily basis, but also which are a little bit different than every other neutral palette I already own. I love neutrals as much as the next girl but I think you have to mix it up a little as well.  If you've ever owned a small z palette, you’ll know they are super compact and travel friendly, so I tried to pick shades that would be good for day & night. I attempted to put together a good combination, so you could grab this palette and have all you need (eyeshadow-wise) for a weekend away!

Each of the Makeup Geek Eyeshadow pans sell for $5.99 USD, which is very affordable compared to other brands such as MAC which are a lot more costly. They come with a magnet already attached to the bottom as well as a colour label.

If I had to pick my favourite 3 shades from my palette, they would have to be Shimma Shimma as a highlight, Cocoa Bear for my crease and Cosmopolitan for an easy lid colour. I hope you enjoyed these swatches and my choices for this little custom palette!

Let me know what your favorite Makeup Geek shades are, I'd love to try more!

  1. I think I'm definitely going to have to pick up Glamorous and Mocha. So impressed with the ones I picked up on my first order... I will hopefully put up a post on my little collection up on my blog soon! :)

    1. Thanks for your comment Jacquelyn! I'd love to see the ones that you own in your collection. I am also keen to order more, especially since shipping is so reasonable!
