August Monthly Favourites: 2014

Time for the monthly roundup! These are all the products that I've been loving this month! Keep reading for mini-reviews of each and why I've been loving them lately.

  1. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette - $86.00 AUD

This palette has already received ALOT of hype in the beauty community but there is a reason why. It's a fabulous, multi-purpose product, and ever since I purchased it, I can't stop using this palette! It comes with three shades: Dim Light, Incadescent Light & Radiant Light. Dim Light is a neutral peach beige that doesn't contain any shimmer, and blurs imperfections. I use it to set my foundation. Incadescent Light contains shimmer, and its a pearly colour that highlights the face beautifully on the cheekbones and under the brow bone. Finally, I like to use Radiant Light as a blush to warm up my cheeks. It's a gorgeous golden beige that adds a lovely depth and warmth to the cheeks. If you are a lighter complexion, you could also use this as a bronzer. These powders all very finely milled and feel amazing on the face. When I wear, them separately or all together, I just feel like my skin looks flawless and glowing. SO worth the money.

PS: The price has just dropped for these at Mecca Maxima, from $95 to $86!

2. People For Plants Rosehip, Ginko, Shea Day Cream - $29.99 AUD

A lovely no-fuss day cream, that absorbs quickly and easily into the skin to add an additional layer of hydration to the skin. This formula doesn't leave me looking shiny or greasy and sits well under my primer and foundation. I love how this cream only contains a few ingredients, all of which I can read and understand. This is a certified organic product, full of nourishing ingredients including rosehip oil which contains beneficial properties for the skin.

3. Makeup Geek Blush in Romance - $12.99 AUD

You've probably heard me raving about the Makeup Geek blushes already here & here, but this is a new shade that I've rotated into my makeup routine lately, and I really have been loving it this month. This is a gorgeous, rose-gold blush that adds a beautiful glimmer to the cheeks. It's suitable for day or night-time wear, but I prefer wearing it when I want to look a little more glowy and "done up". It's a really pigmented blush and I find it's long-lasting as well! You can't go wrong with these blushes.

I love Bourjois products in general, and think it's an amazing brand. The same company produces Chanel products, so you know that it's of a high quality! I ordered this foundation on a whim, when I spotted in on OzSale, as far as I know it's not available here in Australia, but was released in the UK. You can however source it from www.lifeandlooks.com - direct link above with $7.25 shipping to Australia. I have literally been wearing this foundation almost EVERY day this month!

This foundation provides a light-medium coverage, but I just love the way it is so seemlesly blendable. It is a very liquidy formula, which gives you that "skin-like" coverage, so you don't feel cakey at all when you wear this. I find the formula covers really well, and with two layers built up it is able to blend over blemishes pretty easily as well as cover redness. The whole point of the 10 hour sleep effect, is that it's supposed to make you look well-rested, which I think it definitely achieves. I love this foundation and I'd highly reccomend it if you can get your hands on it.

5. Inglot Freedom System Fragrance in Bright Amber - $18.00 AUD

This is a really cool idea from Inglot, where they have created solid perfume fragrances in these single freedom palettes. They were designed to be layered over each other so you can create your own custom fragrance. I just picked up one to try in the scent bright amber, which has notes of citris, bergamot, mandarin, freesia, jasmine, vanilla flower, wood, amber and cinnamon. It's a gorgeous warm scent and I've been wearing it lots this month. It doesn't have the best lasting power (2-3 hrs) but it's so easy to throw in your bag & reapply throughout the day.

6. Maybelline Color Elixir Color Sensational Creamy Lip Lacquer in Rose Redefined - $17.95 AUD

These new lip lacquers from Maybelline have a lovely feel on the lips. They have minimal sticky factor! They add a nice dose of shine, as well as enough pigment to add some colour to the lips. Based on swatches I did in store at Priceline, some shades are more pigmented than others. The shade Rose Redefined is not as pigmented as some of the others, but it's a "my lips but better" colour that's perfect for everyday wear, and can literally be popped on quickly with minimal makeup to make me look more put together. It's a gorgeous medium pink-rose colour that I've been digging this month!

Well, that's all my favourites for this month! (besides my gorgeous ring!)

  1. Great favourites! The price drop on the Hourglass palette is actually quite substantial! Though it's still way out of my budget, and I'm iffy that it will suit my combo/oily skintype. Glad it's working out for you though! Bourjois' bases are all so lovely!

  3. I've been loving all of the beautiful things I bought at Priceline! The Sally Hansen gem crush polishes really have my heart, as well as a dark red Rimmel lipstick I bought. So many great bargains, I'll have to go back - and next time that Mecca Maxima will be open! x

  4. I am completely lusting over that Ambient Lighting Palette and have been eyeing if off for ages - maybe now with this price drop I'll finally go and grab it! I need to try that PFP day cream as well, sounds like something that would suit me to a tee xx

  5. The Bourjois foundation sounds lovely. Daaang that Hourglass Palette is pricey (even after the price drop) but I suppose since you're getting 3 products in 1... As beautiful as it looks, I don't know if I can justify it yet haha!

  6. I am not a huge fan of lipglosses but I have been loving the Maybelline Rose Redefined colour elixir, Non sticky and stays on for a few hours. I have also been wanting to try the MakeupGeek blushes, hopefully soon!
