How To: Soft Smokey Eye & Nude Lips (+ Life Update)

So I apologise for my lack of posts lately. I have been a little swept away by the recent news of my engagement! Last weekend my long-time boyfriend got down on one knee and proposed! How exciting! It was totally unexpected, and a very lovely surprise! We were walking his family dog along the beach, so I was very surprised!!! I have been busy meeting up with friends, as well as starting some planning for the big day. We want to get hitched next year so there is already lots to do!

Now, on to this makeup look! This look was not planned at all but I loved the way it came out. This weekend just past I was heading out to celebrate our engagement with some close friends and I whipped up this makeup look when I was playing with my custom palette from Inglot.

To create this look, I first moisturised and primed my face. I used the Rimmel Stay Matte Primer. For my foundation I used the Bourjois 10 Hour Sleep Effect Foundation as my base. This foundation has light-medium coverage but provides a very dewy and glowy base which feels light on the face. It's not always one that I wear for going out but I love the look I achieve with it as my base. I used the Maybelline Dream Lumi Concealer under my brow bone, and under my eyes to highlight. I set my foundation using my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette in the shade Dim Light (first shade in palette) by dusting it all over my face. I then highlighted my cheekbones using the shade Incandescent Light (second shade in palette). Lastly I dusted some blush into my cheekbones by Makeup Geek called Romantic which is a gorgeous rose gold colour.

My custom Inglot palette

For my eyes, I used my custom Inglot palette. I took the satin taupe colour (fourth bottom left) and swept it across my lids, building up the colour so it had some depth. I then placed the dark brown colour in my crease (fifth top right), and blended it in really well. I then highlighted my inner corner, and under my brow bone with the first shade in the top row. I then placed a little of the light pink colour (second top row) in the centre of my lid to brighten up the look. I lined my eyes using the Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner, and used the Essence I Love Exteme Volume Mascara to top off the look.

For my brows, I used my Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade in Dark Brown for deeply defined brows.

For my lips I used the Too Faced La Creme Lip Cream in Nude Beach, which is one of my all-time favourite nude lip colours.

messy hair, don't care!

Well, that is the completed look! Sorry I don't have photos of all the products but as I said, this look was totally unplanned! I hope you girlies enjoyed this little tutorial, and liked this makeup look. I will try to keep posting regularly but I can't promise that my wedding planning won't get in the way a little :) hehe xx
