Mini Strawberry Net Haul + First Impressions!

Hi Lovelies!

I was so happy after a busy work day on Friday to come home to my beautiful goodies from Strawberry Net!!! I thought I'd share with you today to brighten up your Monday blues.

I haven't done too many orders from this website, but I do find that shipping is relatively fast (3 days via australia post regular mail) for me, and everything was well-packaged. I was actually only going to buy one product (who ever really buys ones one thing though?) which was the Estee Lauder Matte Perfecting Primer, but then I sneaked in some last minute products that have been on my wishlist! Keep reading to find out more about these products! All prices quoted are from the Strawberry Net website, and are given as a guide only.

1. Estee Lauder Matte Perfecting Primer $48 AUD

I was given a sample pot of the Estee Lauder Mattifying Primer when I purchased my Double Wear foundation earlier in the year. I recently tried it out and it was such a surprise to find it was the perfect consistency for me, makeup lovers heaven!!! I always have trouble finding a primer that isn't too silicone based (I find Benefit POREfessional just isn't hydrating enough for me), and I also don't like primers which are too heavy, or that just feel like a facial moisturiser, leaving you shiny (what I find with my Laura Mercier Hydrating Primer). With my combination skin, I need elements that are hydrating, combined with elements that are mattifying as well.

Wearing Estee Lauder Primer, Youngblood Powder & Nars Blush in Angelika
Foundation: Rimmel Wake Me Up
Brows: Lorac Pro Palette Eyeshadow in Espresso
Mascara: Benefit They're Real!
Lips: Mac Chatterbox

This primer is one of the best I have ever tried!!! I would say it is similar to the Rimmel Stay Matte Primer (which I have raved about here as it is so inexpensive) except slightly more creamy and more easily spread across the face. After applying this primer your face is left feeling smooth, hydrated and even. This is only a first impressions, but based on 3-4 uses of this primer, I am in love and I needed to have the full-size in my collection! Worth the money.

2. Youngblood Mineral Rice Setting Powder $39 AUD

Next up is the YoungBlood mineral rice setting powder. I've never actually tried anything from this brand before but I have seen it at my local skincare salon and know it is also available at some higher end skincare clinics as it is known to be great on sensitive and acne-prone skin types. I am always on the hunt for the perfect setting powder. I find that cheap setting powders, or those which contain a lot of cheaply-sourced talc have a tendency to break me out. Others that I have tried appear too cakey over my foundation, or are unable to control the oil around my t-zone.

According to Youngblood, "this ultra-silky, translucent powder absorbs oil to control shine and diminish the appearance of pores, but will never dry your skin". This product is talc-free, which is great for oily skin types that are prone to breaking out. I have trialled this powder from the look I have created below, and applied the powder at 7am, and amazingly it did not need to be touched up at 2pm!!! This is great news for my oily t-zone. I would have to say that this could be because of using the Estee Lauder primer underneath, but overall I am super impressed with this powder so far, I also applied this powder over the weekend where I attended an all-day festival and my face still looked matte and oil-free at the end of the day! I am just loving this baby. I got the shade medium.

3. Nars Blush in Angelika $38 AUD

I don't own too many Nars blushes, but I do find that they are extremely high quality and generally very long-lasting, so I am slowly trying to build my collection. I spotted this blush on my online shopping spree, and just had to add it to my cart. Angelika is a gorgeous cotton candy pink with gold and silver sparkle. I'd say it is a light to medium blue-based pink, and I find it is very flattering on my warm skin tone, and would probably suit most people.

When I first opened up this blush, I was a little scared to see that the blush contains a fair amount of sparkles, but I promise you that this shade blends into the apples of the cheeks beautifully and the sparkle just adds a sense of iridescence and it doesn't look cheap or overdone at all. Nobody wants overly sparkly cheeks but I found most of the sparkles disappeared into my brush or upon blending. This blush lasts an amazing 8 hours on me! I am loving the colour, and loving the formula and blendability as well. Winner!

What are your favourite new products? Has anything really caught your eye but you haven't made the plunge to purchase yet? Happy Monday Beauties!

  1. I love shopping from StrawberryNet for high end products. So much that I have ordered more than 20 times and I get a 7.5% discount now. Some products are so cheap on there.

    1. Wow Reshma! A 7.5% discount is amazing! I will have to keep ordering there so I can benefit from a bigger discount as well. I agree that some of the higher end products that they carry are so much cheaper, and with fast shipping, why wouldn't you shop there? :) Thanks for your comment!

  2. You look so nice in those pics! I always thought Strawberry Net was kind of sketchy but I trust your reviews :)

    1. Hey Lena! I know I have heard rumours in the past about Strawberry Net selling "fake" items but I think people sometimes say this when sites carry old packaging or discontinued items, which Strawberry Net do, but everything I have ever ordered from them has been 100% genuine and authentic. You should check them out sometime! They have some great prices xx

  3. That blush is gorgeous on you! I love samples for discovering new products, there are so many things I wouldn't have bought if I hadn't stumbled across a sample, annoying when I get hooked on something that is super expensive for a full size lol x

    1. Aw thanks Angie! You're so sweet. I honestly am such a sample person! I always ask for samples at my local counters like MAC and Mecca, people are usually pretty good about it, and then you get a chance to try out a product without having to commit to the big price tag! The only negative is when you love the sample and just HAVE to buy the full-size!!! #beautybloggerproblems
Thanks so much for your comment :)

  4. Such a pretty blush!

I need Nars Laguna in my lifeeee...

    1. Thanks Emily! I am really happy with the blush too. I'm slowly building my Nars collection but I don't have Laguna yet either! I have owned Benefit Hoola for ages, and I keep telling myself I can't buy Laguna until I hit pan on Hoola ... but I may just need it anyway. What do you think? :) xx

  5. that blush is gorgeous! Ive really been loving your blog lately!
