October Monthly Favourites: 2014

I hope you all had a fun & safe Halloween! I stayed at home with my fiancé and watched scary movies. I even bought candy for any trick-or-treaters, but sadly we didn't have any :( Luckily for you this meant I had some spare time on my hands so I'm on the ball this month, and have my October Favourites ready for you!

I went back to the basics this month, I've been experiencing a lot of unwanted breakouts, so I haven't experimented much with foundations, and stuck to base products I know and love. I played around a little with some new eye products, and have discovered some great little gems! If you can believe it, I don't have any favourite lip items this month, I've been playing around with lots of different shades, and just couldn't decide on one favourite I've been turning to consistently. Keep reading to find out what I've been loving this month!

1. Benefit Hello Flawless! Powder in Champagne RRP $55 AUD

This is such a beautiful, silky light-weight powder, it helps keep my foundation matte and oil away. I also find that this shade is the perfect match for my skin tone, so it's great for lightly powdering over any blemishes you may have. I don't use the sponge or mini brush that comes with the packaging, but my own large powder brush. The compact is a great size, and has a sturdy magnetic closure. It also comes with a mirror, so it's a great companion for your handbag. This is my third re-purchase of this powder so it's definitely a winner in my eyes!

2. Chi Chi Cosmetics BB Cream in Medium RRP $22.95 AUD

Words can NOT describe how much I love this BB cream! Typically I find that BB creams are nothing more than tinted moisturisers for me, and the never have enough coverage or the right consistency to satisfy me. Introducing, Chi Chi's BB cream! It's amazing!!! It has a great medium coverage, but it's also very hydrating on the skin and the formula is creamy and blendable. This BB cream also contains SPF 30 which is perfect for day wear!!! LOVE THIS STUFF. Super natural looking and actually makes the skin feel amazing. Please try this if you haven't already! Chi Chi is an australian brand and often goes on sale at Target and Myer stores.

3. Covergirl Bombshell Volume Mascara* $21.95 AUD

This mascara is from Covergirl's new Bombshell collection. I was sent this mascara a while ago but just got around to using it this month, and I'm super impressed! I tend to go for more voluminous mascaras over lengthening ones, and this product gives lots and lots of volume!!! It's a double-sided mascara, side 1 provides a volume basecoat, and side 2 provides an intensifying top coat. Below you can see my natural lashes, and then how my lashes look after applying one layer of side 1 and one layer of side 2. No spidery lashes here, just lots of volume. I like side two especially for the bottom lashes.

I've heard mixed reviews of this mascara within the beauty community, but as you can see, it works extremely well on my lashes and I love the result! I'd highly suggest trying  this out if you're after a mascara that has lots of volume, and you don't want to commit to a high-end mascara. This one is available at all major retailers, including Priceline.

4. Covergirl Bombshell ShineShadow in Copper Fling* RRP 11.95 AUD

Wearing Covergirl ShineShadow in Copper Fling

Sometimes we feel lazy ... or atleast I do! I have discovered Covergirl's Bombshell ShineShadow this month and it definitely helps if you want a quick & easy eye look!!! The shade "Copper Fling" is a gorgeous colour for all over the lid and the reflective pigments make your eyes pop. There is really no need to add anything else. I find this shade goes with everything, and the creamy texture makes it so easy to apply and blend into the lid! I'm not usually a huge fan of cream shadows, but these are so easy and effective. I will have to try some of the other shades which are available in the range here.

5. Mac Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul RRP $41 AUD

Wearing MAC blush in 'Warm Soul'

I love this blush. I've had it for ages and I never get sick of it. It's not your average baby pink blush, but rather a beautiful rosey golden beige shade that makes you look put together with little effort. Warm soul is my go-to blush when I just want to feel good, because it never lets me down, it adds a beautiful natural glow to the cheeks, and compliments any makeup look without getting in the way. It's also pretty enough that you can get away wearing this with minimal makeup - just fill in your brows and add a coat of mascara and you're good to go. I just find that it's such a complimentary shade that warms up the face and makes you feel pretty! I just couldn't put this baby down this month! You need it in your collection!

6. Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eye Primer $26 AUD

This eye primer is a no brainer. It's by far my favourite that I've tried so far and for me, it prevents my lids from creasing no matter what! I love the consistency, and how well it blends into the lids. You only need the tiniest amount as well so I think it's totally worth the cash! This is a beauty staple in my makeup bag!

I hope you gorgeous things enjoyed my October faves! Please link below with your montly favourites, or comment & let me know what you've been loving this month!

  4. I was really impressed with the Chi Chi Super BB too, probably one of the better BB creams I've used. The Covergirl mascara looks great on you too, I've been eyeing it for a while now so I might have to invest because I totally need more mascara....not!
