Benefit Cosmetics: USA Haul & Mini Review

Hi to all my beautiful readers! I decided that I won't be doing a November Favourites this month, and instead I will be gearing up for a bigger post at the end of December with my 2014 favourites! Stay tuned to see all the items I've been loving throughout the year.

Today I thought I'd show you all some goodies that I recently ordered from Benefit. I have to say that overall as a brand, Benefit is one of my absolute favourites. They have clever, innovative products, with beautiful packaging, and a wide range of different items so you can create a full look with their products, and I think they are all really good quality.

Although Benefit is readily available here in Australia at your local Myer as well as online beauty boutiques such as Adore Beauty and Myqty, I prefer to order from the US Benefit Website since the prices are much cheaper (even with the USD to AUD conversion), and they provide free samples, as well as having regular special codes they e-mail out for additional deluxe samples or free products. The shipping from the US to australia generally takes 10-14 working days and is pretty affordable, being weight based. If you spend over $125, you get free international shipping, and they often release codes for free international shipping with $100 purchase. I used one of these codes for my order below!

For this haul, I purchased some new products as well as re-purchased some old favourites. How amazing is their packaging? I love the limited edition Christmas packs!!!`

1. Watt's Up! Soft Focus Highlighter ($30 USD)

This one came highly recommended to me by the gorgeous Zoe over at Classic Rouge, and she really knows her stuff, so I obviously had to purchase this when I had the chance :) This highlighter is in a stick packaging that glides on from cream to powder. First of all, how gorgeous is the packaging? I'm so in love. It's so pretty I found it hard to use at first. One side has the cream product and the other side that is visible in the above picture has a sponge tip which is supposed to be used to blend out the highlighter. I apply it directly on to the cheeks and then use a brush to blend out, or I apply using my fingertips and blend with a beautyblender. In either case, the side with the sponge tip didn't do anything for me, and I wouldn't recommend using it. I actually found this highlighter to be gorgeous, I love the soft champagne shimmer, and I think it provides such a lovely sheen to the cheeks. It would be great for those summer months when you don't want a powder highlighter to just sweat off, this one has great staying powder. Winner! Thanks Zoe.

Top to Bottom: Watts Up! & Hervana Swatches

2. Hervana Blush ($28 USD)

I decided to bite the bullet and buy a boxed blush. Unfortunately at the time of this order the Cheeky Sweet Spot Box o' Blushes that I was eyeing was sold out on the Benefit website, but I had my heart set on it, so I chose Hervana, since it wasn't already included in the set. Luckily, I ended up receiving the palette from an (amazing) friend who had just come back from the US so it was a win-win! I was happy with this purchase though, it's a gorgeous medium toned pink, with swirls of a lighter pink, darker blue toned pink, peachy pink and coral pink. Swirled together it creates a beautiful flush on the cheeks and I think it would suit most skintones. I feel like it's not overly pigmented, but it's definitely buildable, and you can use the individual shades to highlight or define as you like.

3. Sweet Tintations Limited Edition Lip & Cheek Set ($26 USD)

How could I say no to buying this cute, limited edition, Christmas set? I have been wanting to try the Benefit Balms for a while now, and usually they retail for $18 USD just on their own. This package contains 2 FULL sized benefit lip balms, and 2 mini sized lip/cheek tints for just $26 USD, so I think that is great value since you are saving $10 on the balms, and essentially getting the tints for free!

Top to bottom: Lollitint, Lollibalm, Benetint & Benebalm Swatches

As you can see from the swatches, these products are not overly pigmented. The balms are very hydrating and feel silky smooth on the lips. They are perfect for day wear, and slapping on before you go out the door to add a dash of colour to your lips and keep them soft and hydrated. I have tried some of the lip/cheek stains in the past, and they are really nice as well. I don't like the consistency or texture for my lips, but they work well for me as a cheek stain, to provide a natural flush to the cheeks. I also find they give my cheeks colour for quite a long time and provide good staying power. I like Lollitint the best!

4. Benefit Peek-A-Bright Eye Illuminating Kit ($32 USD)

I am seriously obsessed with this purchase. It's so funny because it was something I didn't plan on buying as part of my order but it came FREE at the time with any purchase of $75 or more. What great value, considering that the kit itself costs $32. Since receiving this kit, I have been completely loving it! It is an AMAZING kit for traveling since it's so compact and gives you everything you need to make your eyes pop! The luminizer cream is perfect to pop in the inner corners of your eyes and under the brow bone! The base is a nice matte beige cream colour, the brown is a gorgeous matte for contouring in the crease, or even doing your brows! Then you have the last shade which is a highlight that is gorgeous in the centre of the lid, also in the inner corner or brow bone. Such a pretty shimmering champagne colour, my favourite kind of highlight! This kit is such good value, and I find myself reaching for it all the time. It even comes with all the brushes that you need for when you're on the run!

5. They're Real! Mascara ($23 USD)

If you follow me on instagram, you'd already know that I really love this mascara. I love how it makes my lashes look long and the deep, dark colour of the formula is really nice. It can be annoying to remove, but with my Garnier Miscellar Water, I can usually get it off without too much effort. You can also use the They’re Real! Remover which is really useful but more expensive. This mascara also looks great on bottom lashes, and I find it doesn’t bleed or smudge, and stays put throughout the day really well. I’ve heard mixed reviews about this mascara, but I honestly think that it’s worth the price tag, and this is my third time re-purchasing! (I do find I get the full 3 months out of a tube) which is good J

Benefit They're Real! Mascara & Benefit Gimme Brow

6. Gimme Brow ($22 USD)

Gimme Brow was also a repurchase for me! I actually didn’t use up all of mine, but I somehow managed to break the product catcher at the top of my tube, so that when I dipped into it, a massive glob of product would ooze out and I would have to wipe off the excess with tissues every single time in order to use it! A bit of bummer, so I ended up throwing it out and buying a new one.
This product is great for anyone who wants more thick and defined brows with little effort. I use mine in the shade medium/deep and I find it suits my dark brown hair perfectly. The brush that comes with Gimme Brow is super teeny tiny, and it’s perfect for picking up those small hairs at the front of your eyebrows or on the tail and adding some colour and thickness to them. I love using this on days I may be going to run some errands, off to the beach, or just my “easy makeup days” where I don’t feel like using my Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade or powder. I’d highly recommend this product!

I hope I've inspired you to try out the Benefit US site for your next order. They currently have some great specials on for Black Friday & Cyber Monday, to check them out just click here. I hope you liked this post. What are your favourite Benefit products?

Awesome haul! I have a couple of benefit products like Posietint, Benetint, Dandelion Blush, etc, but I am dying to try another Box Blush. They are so amazing I want them all damnit! Great haul. It makes total sense to buy from the US, I always do that. It's way more affordable! Great post X

I bought Sweet Tintations a couple of weeks ago, and I love it to bits.
The 'they're real' Mascara, never quite did the trick for me, but the gel eyeliner, OMG! Have you tried it?

  8. That's great that you bought the set Sophia! I think it's such a good value since you get two full sized benefit balms for a discounted price! That's too bad the mascara didn't work out for you. I have the They're real! Gel liner too and it is quite good for getting the perfect wing! Thanks for your comment xx

  13. Thanks so much Kate! I just tried Dandelion from my Cheeky Box o' Blushes Palette (which I love) and it's a really nice highlighter/blush on me. I also have been really enjoying Rockateur which is also in that palette. Maybe that can be your next boxed blush purchase! The US site is so much cheaper hey! I find it hard to justify shopping at my local Benefit because the price difference is so noticeable! xx
