My USA Haul: Sephora & MAC Cosmetics

Well, I tried to restrain myself since the Australian dollar has taken quite a hit in the last few months, but there were some things I just HAD to pick up while overseas, and other things that just somehow found their way into my basket and I'm not sure how they ended up in there ... oops. If you'd like to know what I picked up on my most recent trip to Hawaii, keep reading!!!

Well, it wouldn't be a shopping excursion, without a stop at MAC! I didn't plan on picking up too much, since the conversion from AUD to USD wasn't too favourable, but I did manage to pick up 2 MAC lipsticks in Angel and Brave. I'm not usually a big fan of a frost finish, but MAC's Angel is a gorgeous medium pink with subtle shimmer and it's gorgeous on the lips. I also picked up Brave which is a MLBB colour, it's a pinky beige mauve colour and it's a gorgeous neutral shade. I also picked up a lip liner in the shade Dervish, which is a great match for Brave, it's a beige mauve shade and would pair well with many other neutral pink shades. Finally, I picked up MAC Bronzing Powder in Refined Golden. I mainly got this because I wanted a bronzer that wasn't overly shimmery and was dark enough to contour with, as well as enhance my tan. I am really enjoying it so far and I don't find that the shimmer really comes out in the swatches although you can see golden specks in the pan. This is a really nice bronzer and I can't wait to use it more!

Next stop for me, was the beautiful amazing land of Sephora! I don't live near the Sephora in Sydney, so I was having some major withdrawal and welcomed my visit with open arms! The first thing I picked up was the Bare Minerals Bare Skin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation as well as the matching bareSkin Perfecting Face Brush which was designed specifically to go with this foundation. The foundation is a very lightweight, hydrating formula, but it has buildable coverage. I've never tried BareMinerals liquid foundations before but I was pleasantly surprised. It is a dropper bottle which is a little different from traditional foundations, and the brush has a reservoir that allows you to drop the foundation into the brush for a no-mess application. I've been really enjoying this foundation on days where I just want a small amount of coverage and some SPF on my face. I do like the brush as well but I think it's not exactly a must-have, since you can easily drop some of the foundation on to a flat top kabuki and get a very similar result!

Here you can see the reservoir within the brush where you drop in the Bare Minerals foundation

Next at Sephora, I just couldn't resist walking past this beautiful new Too Faced Soul Mates Blushing Bronzer Duo in Ross & Rachel, it's just so pretty!!! This is housed in a gorgeous heart compact, and contains a bronzer with a pop of blush. I chose this shade since it contained a medium to deep bronzer and a gorgeous bright pink shade. You can use these shades separately or swirl them together. I haven't actually tried this out yet since it's TOO PRETTY but I swatched it for you guys and it looks beautiful. This is one of those things that you want to buy for the packaging alone, but in my opinion you can't go wrong with blushes and bronzers from Too Faced!

Next up, I couldn't resist some items in my basket from Urban Decay Cosmetics. I already own and LOVE the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation in the shade 4.5 for when I am nice and tanned, but I wanted to pick up a shade for my usual skintone which is 3.5 and it matches perfectly. This is an amazing foundation that I find to be medium to full coverage when you build it up, but it feels like a second skin, it goes on so naturally and flawlessly and I just love it and recommend it. I also picked up the Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray in a travel size (1 oz). I've used and loved this product before but I wanted a smaller size to take with me while travelling. Lastly, I picked up a new product I haven't tried out before, which is the Urban Decay Ultra Definition Powder Foundation. I thought this would complement the Naked Skin Foundation and the tester felt very finely milled and soft on the skin. I picked up the shade Light Medium (neutral) and it's a bit too light for me at the moment since I am fairly tanned so I haven't tried this one out yet. Stay tuned! It also comes in a super cute pouch you can carry around in your purse.

Finally, these were the last few items that somehow jumped into my cart without me noticing! I picked up a full-size of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I already own two travel-sized minis of this product and I really like this mascara. A lot of online distributors of Too Faced have been showing sold out for this mascara so I wanted to pick up a full-size when I had the chance. I will be hoarding this until my minis run out!

I also use and love the Stila One Step Correct Primer which I am almost out of so I decided to pick up the Stila One Step Illuminate to see if I would like that one as well. This product is supposed to prime, brighten, warm and illuminate the skin. I haven't tried it out yet but I'll keep you posted!

Finally, I picked up a deluxe sample size of the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser with SPF 30 in the shade St. Moritz. This shade would normally be a little too dark for me but with my tan it suits me perfectly and it's a medium yellow toned shade. I've used this one a few times and it gives a great amount of coverage while still feeling moisturising on the skin.

Well, I hope you enjoyed the inside peak at my USA haul! What is your latest purchase? I'd love to hear about what you've picked up lately!
