Beauty Bin: Empties #1

Can you believe I've never done an Empties post before??? Don't worry though, I've been saving them up for a couple of months and now I have lots of empties to share with you. If you've read these kind of posts before, you'll know I'll give a brief review of each product and let you know if I would repurchase it or not. I LOVE the feeling of finishing up a product. I think it helps reinforce the fact that I am actually using what I buy, but it definitely takes longer to finish some products than you would imagine! Keep reading if you'd like to know what is currently in my Beauty Bin!

All my empty products!

Juice Beauty Exfoliating Cleanser ($22 AUD)

This was a random purchase from Skincare Direct. This is a creamy cleanser with dissolving jojoba beads to exfoliate and clean the skin. It also contains pineapple enzymes and aloe vera to soothe the skin. This cleanser has no scent which I found a little boring, but I found it really nice for removing makeup and a very gentle but effective formula.

Repurchase? No. I probably wouldn't repurchase this product because I feel there are better and less expensive cleansers out there.

Skinstitut Moisture Defense for Normal Skin ($31 AUD)

I bought mine at a Skinstitut outlet, however the brand can easily be sourced online through places like Adore Beauty. This is a moisturiser that can be used both during the day and before bedtime as it doesn't contain an SPF. It is supposed to smooth and reduce the appearance of fine lines. I actually really did like this moisturiser and rarely finish a whole bottle of moisturiser before moving on to something else. I really liked this sitting under my makeup as it didn't feel greasy or heavy.

Repurchase? Yes. I probably would repurchase this product but I have other moisturiser I am trying to get through right now.

Alpha-H Vitamin A 0.5% Serum ($93 AUD)

This stuff is AMAZING, I've already raved about this product on my blog here & here. I use this mainly to reduce acne scarring and to even out my skintone. Vitamin A helps to increase cell turnover to make your skin more radiant and even. This can also be used as an anti-aging product. This can increase your skin's sensitivity so please be careful when using! You can also find this for cheaper if you use sites such as Adore Beauty.

Repurchase? I've already repurchased this and this is my second bottle. I haven't  been able to find anything that assists so much with reducing my acne scarring so I would definitely recommend this product very highly!

Glam Glow YouthMud Mask ($22 AUD)

I bought this from Mecca just to trial it in a smaller size before committing to the more expensive full-size product. The product is supposed to refine skin's texture and improve your complexion. I reviewed this on my blog here after 2-3 uses. I wasn't a huge fan of the smell of this product and the consistency was very messy to use. I really enjoyed it the first few times I used it because I found it left my skin feeling very soft, but the product dries up very quickly and I actually had to get rid of some of the remaining product because it had completely dried out and was unusable. I thought it was a real waste of money. I also didn't like the clumps of tea tree leaves that were embedded into the mask. After trying more masks throughout last year and this year, I can safely say there are better masks out there and I think this product is overly hyped without delivering real results. That being said, everyone is different and maybe it could work well for you!

Repurchase? No. I think this product is really expensive for the small amount you get and not overly effective for clearing up breakouts and getting rid of excess oil.

Goldwell Dual Senses Color Detangling Conditioner ($20 AUD)

Goldwell's Dual Senses line is amazing and I've raved about many of the products on my blog here and here. I love all the products from this line. The pink bottles are aimed specifically for color treated hair, and the conditioner promises to moisture and nourish color treated hair and it smells amazing because it contains pomegranate extract. I've really enjoyed using this product!

Repurchase? Yes! I'd definitely repurchase any product from the Goldwell Dual Senses line.

Earth Science Olive & Avocado Hair Masque ($9 AUD)

This stuff is dirt cheap from iHerb and I honestly love it so much!!! It is hands down the best hair masque I've ever used. A big claim, I know. I've already mentioned this in my November Favourites from last year. I didn't realise how much I loved this stuff until I recently ran out and jumped online to order two more bottles because the thought of being without it was a little scary. I've never used anything that makes my hair feel so moisturised, strong and silky. There must be some magic in the ingredients because I haven't found any product which can make such a huge difference in my hair even after just one use. Buy some of this the next time you're on iHerb and you'll thank me!!!

Repurchase? Yes Yes Yes! As I said, I've already ordered more of this stuff and I just can't get enough!

K-PAK REVITALUXE Bio-Advanced Restorative Treatment ($23 AUD)

I think I purchased this in a pack with other mini hair treatments from KPAK. This is an intensive treatment aimed at repairing, restoring, and hydrating hair. I did find it worked really well but I love my Avocado Hair Masque even more and it's a lot more affordable as well.

Repurchase? No. I liked this product but I wouldn't repurchase.

Bourjois Happy Light Luminous Primer ($21)

This is an amazing primer that makes any foundation look more luminous and glowing. I have a full review of the primer on my blog which can be found here. This is a very affordable primer alternative to some of the more higher end brands and I think it has a good balance between extending the longevity of whatever foundation you use and brightening the skin,

Repurchase? Yes. I am a primer hoarder so I have lots more to get through but I am already itching to repurchase this one because I really really like it.

Stila One Step Correct Primer ($39 AUD)

I bought this primer from BeautyBay after hearing some great reviews, and I wasn't disappointed. This is a very hydrating primer that offers some moisture into the skin while also adding some colour correcting benefits and evening out the skintone. It controls oil well and evens out the skin's texture so it's a great all rounder primer and I'd highly recommend it!

Repurchase? Yes. I'd definitely repurchase this. I recently purchased the Stila One Step Illuminate to see if it's as good as the One Step Correct!

Too Faced Hangover Primer ($44)

I hadn't heard much about this primer up until a few months ago in the beauty community. I think it's finally starting to get some hype which it definitely deserves! I featured this in my Top 10 Beauty Products of 2014 so safe to say I am obsessed with this stuff! It smooths the skin, makes foundation last longer and also hydrates the skin so well. It also smells like coconuts and reminds me of summer.

Repurchase? Yes. I'd repurchase this in a heartbeat. Worth the moola.

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer ($30 AUD)

This stuff is like light in a bottle. It actually applies like a very creamy white colour and when you blend it into your face you may be scared that it's too light and you're making a big mistake, but it blends in very seamlessly with any foundation that you apply over the top and makes your skin gleam. I don't find this primer is as good as some others at covering over pores and really smoothing the skin, but it definitely brightens the skin and can also be mixed in with foundations similar to a strobe cream or liquid highlighter.

Repurchase? Yes. I have lots of other primers to get through but I would repurchase this primer as it makes the skin look so bright and radiant!

Miscellaneous Beauty Products

Daiso Puff and Sponge Cleaner ($3 AUD)

I don't have any online links for this product because Daiso don't have a website. They are basically a Japanese dollar store where every product is $2.80 AUD. They have this Puff and Sponge Cleaner which has been widely recommended throughout the beauty community as one of the best Makeup Brush Cleaners on the market and extremely cheap. This works WONDERS on dirty brushes, and has brought some of my most dirty and grubby brushes back to pristine condition. My only gripe is that the bottles are very small and I do find you have to use a fair amount of product to get your brushes really clean. Of course, it's so cheap that who would mind buying a few bottles?

Repurchase? Yes. I'd definitely repurchase this brush cleaner because it's so cheap and effective.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser ($19 AUD)

This has long been one of my Holy Grail concealers. There are few products that can get rid of dark circles quite as well as this product. I would only recommend it in the shade 'Brightening' which is a pinky pearl colour that assists to cover any darkness in the skin. There isn't much more to say about this other than I would give it 10/10 for it's effectiveness and you can often find it on sale for much cheaper in your local Priceline or Chemist Warehouse or whichever Pharmacy you have where you live!

Repurchase? Yes. I've repurchased this at least half a dozen times and will continue to do so until I find a product that can achieve the same results at such a low price point!

Australis 10hr Wear Eyeliner Pencil in Bombastic Bronze ($10 AUD)

I think I just bought this on a whim because this pencil is a really pretty bronze colour that I wanted to use to replace my usual black eyeliner from time to time. I used this a few times and did like the colour but I didn't feel it met it's claim of being similar to a liquid liner in pencil form. It wasn't overly pigmented and I also tried to sharpen mine and it completely broke. I have to say I was disappointed with the quality of this product and wouldn't recommend it.

Repurchase? No. I found the quality to be very poor and broke off as soon as I tried to sharpen it.

Well those were quite a few empties to cover all in one post! I hope you enjoyed my mini reviews and suggestions. Please let me know if there are any products you have been wondering about and I am more than happy to review them on here. If you have any empties posts you'd like to share with me, please link them down below!

    Madeleine, The Daily Mark

  2. Nothing annoys me more than pencil products that break when you sharpen them arh! #makeuppetpeeve

  3. Lauren Connolly10/3/15 8:31 pm

I really loved the Bourjois Happy Light Primer too! I found it was perfect to use on my cheeks under my blush to really give my cheeks a natural looking bright flush :D I haven't tried the Hangover primer but I'm really fond of Too Faced's Primed and Poreless primer, I got a mini so I think I'll take the plunge and get the full sized when I finally make it through some of my current primers!

  4. I swear we are on the same wave length or something! I have been saving up all my empties for the last couple of months too with plans to do an empties post!! Definitely need to pick up the Daiso cleaner this weekend!!

  5. I am on a hence to try the Too faced Hangover Primer but heaps of US Youtubers seems to rave about it which makes me itch to try haha. Owh, Daiso Puff & Sponge cleaner is such a smart innovation Japan has come out with lol & save us a huge amount of money instead of buying the beauty blender soap. Don't you reckon? Great post x

  10. Oh wow! That's awesome! I can't wait to see your empties post! I have been saving up these babies for a little while. Did you manage to pick up a Daiso cleaner? I'm all out and need some more too!

  11. Honesty, even if you could get a sample from your local Mecca it would be working trying!!! That way you don't have to commit to the expensive price tag just yet. I love the Daiso puff cleaner so much! I think other people are on to it though, the last time I went to restock at my local Daiso they were all sold out! Thanks so much for your comment xx

  12. I'm so happy I'm not the only one!!! What are your current favourites?

  13. I loved reading this post gorgeous! I'll definitely need to try that hair mask if you love it so much!

  14. blogrekindled17/3/15 7:24 pm

Hourglass veil, rimmel stay matte or Benefit Porefessional are my current favs :-)

  15. When I was in Sydney last Sept for Imats, I went to 2 Daiso in Syd City & the girl whom assisted me said that Daiso puff cleaner runs out pretty quickly #whoops #lol . I doubt my Mecca carrys Too faced Hangover Primer in-store. (Sucks!!) I might just wing it & get it one of these days xx

  16. I'm loving Hourglass veil at the moment too! Thanks for sharing your faves with me :)

  17. Yeah the only bad part about the cleaner is that the bottle is small and o dos go through mine quickly! But it's still more affordable than any other brand I've tried!

That sucks if they don't have it in store but you could always order it online. I love mine!!!

  18. Thanks Kate! The hair mask is so random but I freakin' love it!!! I can give you a sample pot to try if you like :) xx
