Sarah Goes Shopping: MAC & Mecca Maxima

So with my wedding not too far away, I really need to start going into a super saving mode! In order to motivate myself to do this, I've done one last splurge at my two favourite makeup spots, MAC & Mecca Maxima. These are all items that I have been eager to get my hands on. This will (hopefully) be one of my last big hauls besides any PR samples I may receive or products from The Parcel which I am registered to receive quarterly. Also, I think some drugstore products here or there are okay to help ease me into the saving process! Keep reading if you'd like to hear about what I picked up recently.

MAC Cosmetics

MAC Lipsticks ($36 AUD)

(L-R): MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus, MAC Toledo Collection Oxblood, MAC Fast Play

Can you tell I love MAC lipsticks? There were some fun new Limited Edition collections released recently including the MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus Lipstick, which was made as a collaboration with MAC & Miley Cyrus with all proceeds going towards helping people with HIV/AIDS which is a wonderful cause. This is a gorgeous blue-based hot pink colour with a fuschia hint. I really love bright pink shades so this one was an easy purchase for me! It's quite similar to MAC Girl About Town and the shade isn't overly unique so chances are you may already have a dupe in your collection but I still justified purchasing this.

Next up is from the MAC Isabel & Ruben Toledo Collection and it's called Oxblood ($40 AUD) which is a light peachy nude shade, not like much I already own in my collection. It's a warm nude and looks lovely as an everyday lip colour that you can throw on without having to think too much about it. There are some other lovely colours from this collection but I only picked up this one.

Wearing MAC Toledo Collection Oxblood

Finally, from the permanent collection I decided to grab Fast Play, which I have heard very little about but after swatching it in store, I knew it was a colour I needed to have in my collection. This is a medium brown neutral pink. It's a really pretty colour, and a perfect "My Lips But Better" shade which are always welcome in my collection! This is an amplified finish (my favourite kind) so it sits nicely on the lips, is still really pigmented and also moisturising.

Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Perfect Topping ($47 AUD)

This product has been doing its rounds in the beauty community and has been pretty hyped up. I've been trying to purchase it in store a bunch of different times, but each time I visited a MAC counter, it was always sold out! Finally I decided to take the plunge and order it online. It didn't disappoint, a stunning peachy golden shade with hints of lavender. The only similar highlight I own in my collection is TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer ($35 AUD) however I still feel they are pretty distinct from one another. A light dusting of this powder under the brow bone or along the cheekbones makes for a luminous glow and looks super pretty!

Mecca Maxima

Nars Audacious Lipstick ($44 AUD)

I've already done a full blog post here professing my love for these lipsticks here, so it's no surprise that I just had to sneak one more of these beautiful lipsticks into my collection before I start saving hardcore. This shade is called Anita, which is a gorgeous muted medium dark pink with some warm undertones. I absolutely love this colour, it's so pretty and brightens up the face. As with the rest of the lipsticks from this collection, the formula is smooth, creamy and ultra-pigmented! I definitely don't regret this purchase!

Hourglass No. 28 Primer Serum (10ml - $29 AUD)

This is an oil-blend serum that is aimed at hydrating the skin, evening out pores and protecting the skin against environmental aggressors. It feels a little strange going on as it is very oily but it does sink into the skin quickly and give the skin a very dewy and fresh looking finish when applied under foundation. This can also be used at night as a moisturiser so it's dual purpose! I purchased the smaller size just so I can trial this along with my already much loved Veil Mineral Primer.

Well that's all I had to show you from my lil' haul! Hope you enjoyed as this will be my last one for a while. Would any of you like to see some posts about how to try to save money or make the most of products you already own? Last year I shopped my own beauty stash when I went on a Beauty Diet if you'd like to read about it here, I will have to come up with a new idea for this year!

  1. Lovely haul! I've actually never seen Fast Play before, looks like such a pretty, wearable shade though! Also love the look of Perfect Topping, the embossing is adorable!

  2. This is a good haul! Are you going to do your own makeup for your wedding?

  3. I was thinking about it Lena but decided I would find it too stressful to have perfect makeup on the day so I am actually getting Kate from http://kflowermaquillage.com/ to do mine for me! We are gonna do a few trials though to make sure I'm happy :) xx

  4. Thanks Tasha! Yeah it's weird I've heard nothing about Fast Play yet it is an amplified creme which are pretty popular and such a beautiful shade as well. I think it deserves more hype! Perfect Topping is so pretty I feel a little guilty ruining the embossing! Thanks for your comment x

  7. I would find it stressful too, I find it hard enough as a guest at big events, let alone as a bride! I'd need someone who wouldn't get glue on the false lashes like I always do lol.

Awesome haul! Loved the Miley Cyrus Viva Glam lipstick and am totally obsessed with the MAC Toledo collection and actually have the Perfect Topping MSF from back when it was first released (old packaging). I really need to bust that out more often, your post reminded me how much I loved it! oxoxo

  16. Thanks babe! Yeah I'm in like super savings mode now so I'm excited to put all my high-end stuff to use. I will probably just allow myself to repurchase items if I run out of them but that's it!

  17. Thanks Melissa! You definitely need to try out Juliette, it's so stunning on the lips! There is a picture of me on IG wearing it if you wanted to see I'll tag you in it. Oxblood is really nice but I'm sure there are other dupes for it out there so don't worry too much :) xx

  18. Yeah I know I could do it but I get really stressed under pressure so it will be nice to leave it in someone else's hands! I did my own makeup for my engagement party though which was an accomplishment :) False lashes are so tricky!!! I'm with you there haha.

I love your excuse of "I need to save money so I went on two big splurges" frame of mind haha! Congrats on your upcoming wedding :) I really like the look of Perfect Topping; I have Soft and Gentle and Lightscapade as those are the two favourites but this one also looks gorgeous. Funnily enough I have not seen that one until today! Also Oxblood looks so gorgeous, definitely something I would choose :)

MAC are seriously releasing some fantastic products lately - the collections have been awesome!
I haven't actually had the chance to pick up anything from Cinderella yet (really hoping they still have stock left instore but doubting it!), but we did get sent the eye gloss to try, which is quite... interesting hahaha. Did you pick up anything from it??
Perfect topping is so pretty - I actually grabbed it out and used it again yesterday! Ahhh love it so much :D oxoxo

  23. I know!!! Sometimes I go through weeks where all I want to do is buy buy, but after a few weeks of using my own collection the urge seems to pass and not buying new stuff all the time does get easier. Oxblood I was sort of on the fence about getting, I really wanted it, but I didn't need it, but I am glad I decided to splurge on it in the end. Thanks for your comment!

  24. Anita is so amazing for everyday! It has become my new go-to! Glad you liked the haul! Thanks so much for your comment :)

  25. I KNOW!!!! I realise there is no logic to it and it doesn't make sense, but I actually have bought any new makeup since this post (besides a few repurchases for Priceline's 40% off sale) so it must be working!!! I'm surprised you haven't seen Perfect Topping! It would go so well with the rest of your collection. I have Soft and Gentle, and it's beautiful but this one is quite different in the shades it has. Thanks for your comment lovely!
