March Monthly Favourites: 2015

Happy Easter Beauties! I hope you're all enjoying a well-deserved day off. Today I thought I'd share all of my favourite products for the month of March, which mainly consist of new discoveries and products I haven't really tried out until this month! If you're curious to know what I've been loving, please keep reading :)

1. Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial Wash($65 for 200ml)

Elemis Australia
I'm all for affordable skincare, but sometimes you try a higher-end product, and you can just feel the luxury and quality! I was lucky enough to receive this cleanser when I attended Obsession 2015, and I've been loving it ever since I first started to use it. I actually look forward to washing my face with this every day now, and I'll be sad for when this deluxe sample runs out, because I'm pretty sure I will need to repurchase this and part with the money.

This creamy cleanser stimulates the skin's natural cell renewal, while also washing away makeup and impurities and leaving the skin feeling super clean, smooth and moisturised. It has a lovely fresh scent and feels great when you massage it into the skin.

I'd highly recommend this facial wash if you're feeling spendy and I think it would be suitable for all skin types!

2. Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Polish in Mad Women ($16.95 AUD)

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Polish Mad Women

If you follow me on Instagram, you'd know I love the formula of these gel polishes that cure under natural light! I usually get 5-7 days with this polish, depending on what I'm doing! I recently picked up this shade called "Man Women" and it is an amazing deep burry/fuchsia pink mixture with a metallic finish. I only needed to do two layers to get a nice pigmented, opaque finish. The shade looks stunning and is a great colour for any time of the year, but particularly looks great during autumn.

3. Face of Australia High Definition Primer* ($13.95 AUD)

This was another freebie, I recieved in my Obsession 2015 goodie bag. I honestly didn't expect to like this, as I generally don't get along too well with primers that are heavily silicone based. However, I do love the Face of Australia Face Base Primer, so I was eager to try this one and give it a fair chance. Although this primer, does contain silicone, it goes on smooth and silky and feels amazing on the skin! I have found that a little goes a long way, and once this is spread all over the face it gives a lovely matte feel and reduces the appearance of pores substantially.

I have been using this every single day this month and have found that it has increased the longevity of all of my foundations and keeps my t-zone matte for way longer than usual. The consistency is similar to Benefit the POREfessional, but I feel like it is more moisturising, and spreads across the skin more easily and I would prefer it to the Benefit Primer.

4. Maybelline SuperStay 24 Hour Foundation ($23.95 AUD)

We all know, I am a foundation junkie, and I definitely don't need any more in my collection. BUT sometimes when Priceline has a 40% off sale, you just have to pick up something new to try. For me, I really wanted to try out this foundation from Maybelline, which claims to last for 24 hours without any transfer.

I color matched myself to the shade Nude, and have been presently surprised when reaching for this foundation almost every day since purchasing it! I find it has a similar consistency to Estee Lauder Double Wear, but is a little more runny and less drying. It provides amazing full coverage, without looking cakey at all. One layer of this foundation covers up all my blemishes, and I don't need concealer over top. Yes!!! It lasts a good 10-12 hours on me, and then I usually take it off anyway, but the message is that it is very long lasting. I have been loving this stuff and it's also really affordable so check it out if you are in the market for a new drugstore base.

5. Physician's Formula Nude Wear Powder in Medium* ($29.95 AUD)

Physician Formula Nude Wear Glowing Powder in Medium

Can we all just take a minute to appreciate the amazing packaging of this powder from Physician's Formula? It's a super cute compact, housing a secret compartment at the back with a mirror & brush, and a magnetic closure at the front. The powders are designed to even out the skintone and add radiance to the face. I love using mine by swirling the four shades together and setting my foundation for a flawless, glowing look. Don't worry, you won't look like a disco ball, for reference, I used this powder quad to set my foundation in the previous picture showing the Maybelline SuperStay Foundation.

The powders can set foundation nicely, or be used alone to warm up the face as a blush, contour or highlight. These can be a tiny bit powdery, but overall I find they look great on the skin and avoid a cakey look. They are great for making the skin look luminous and it's easy to sweep the powder on over a bb cream for a complete look. I love this compact and would recommend it for you to try!

6. Australis AC On Tour Contouring & Highlighting Kit ($16.95 AUD)

Already, being a massive fan of Australis Cosmetics, I had to find out what all the hype was about with this highlighting and contouring kit! Although I don't own the ABH Contour Kit to lend a comparison, I can say that this affordable kit offers a range of different shades for highlighting and contouring, that are buttery and pigmented. I actually don't find the time to contour my face each day, but I have been loving the third shade from the left for highlighting, as well as using on the inner corners of my lids and under my brow bone. I love using the second shade from the left (yellow shade) to set my under eye concealer. Finally, in the second row, I love the third brown from the left, which is a gorgeous warm, matte brown and I use this to create a nice crease for my eyes for a simple, everyday makeup look that gives an added depth and warmth to the eyes.

My favourite shades are second, third and forth from the top!

7. Rimmel Apocalips Matte Lip Velvet* ($15.95 AUD)

Rimmel Apocalips Matte Lip Velvet

I was already a massive fan of the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers, so when Rimmel came out with these matte lip velvets, I was super excited to see how they held up on the lips! The whole liquid lip colour, has been a huge craze over the past few months, but these lip velvets don't disappoint. They are packed with pigment, stain the lips and are quite long-lasting (about 8 hours for me). On me, I found the formula was not completely matte, and more of a semi-matte finish, which meant that they were quite hydrating and felt comfortable on the lips. This is definitely a point of difference compared to most liquid lipsticks that are very drying on the lips. I have these lip velvets in all four shades as you can see from the swatches below. I like all of shade selections, and think they are quite diverse, although I'd love to see more lighter shade as I love the pinkish nude Atomic Rose

8. Maybelline Color Drama Lipsticks ($9.95 AUD)

Another purchase from the Priceline 40% off sale, I couldn't resist picking up these hybrid lip pencils from Maybelline that combine a lip liner with a lipstick. They are already quite affordable as it is, sitting just under $10. OH MY GOD. These don't disappoint. They are incredibly pigmented, and are so easy to use because you can use them to line your lips and then fill in all over the lips for a pigmented punch of colour. They are soft and creamy and easy to use. I haven't tried sharpening them yet but I hope they hold up because they are a wonderful little creation! I particularly love Nude Perfection, which is a good dupe for MAC Velvet Teddy.

  5. I've been loving the Elemis cleanser so much as well! Such a great one for the mornings. I'm yet to try the primer or the nude powder. I keep putting off using the powder because I want to take photos of the overspray, but then I'm always lazy and forget to take photos haha :P Oh and yeah I love Nude Perfection as well! I thought it was similar to Velvet Teddy too :)

  15. Thanks so much for your comment! The Rimmel Matte Lip Velvets, are only really semi-matte so they sit very comfortably on the lips and are way less drying than other liquid lipsticks that I've tried! You should definitely pick up one shade to try, they are very affordable!

  16. I use mine in the mornings too! It's so nice and makes my skin feel so soft! Mine is actually is almost all gone and I am freaking out for when I have to repurchase the full size because it's so expensive but I think I may just need it! I have demolished the overspray from the powder but luckily did get some good photos beforehand! Can't wait to see what you think of it! Thanks so much for your comment that means a lot to me! x

  17. Oh yes! I have some People for Plants items I haven't tried yet! You will love the Elemis cleanser! It feels so luxurious but now I am sad that mine is almost gone and I want to repurchase the full size but it's so expensive! Too bad to hear about the SuperStay, sometimes if you get the wrong shade it can really throw off the way you feel about a foundation. Can't wait to see you tomorrow!
