Ry.com.au Haul + First Impressions

If you're an online shopping addict like me, you'll appreciate finding sites that are one stop shops for skincare, haircare and makeup products! I love getting a bargain and finding an Australian site where I won't be charged heaps for shipping or a hefty conversion rate. Ry.com.au is an online aussie-based retailer that offers all of these things! I've actually used their services in the past for ordering some of my skincare but was recently approached by the company to trial a range of new products and share my experiences with you all! Of course, honestly is my number one policy so if you're interested to know my thoughts on this website and the products I received then you're in the right place.

Disclaimer: All of the products reviewed in this post were provided to me free of charge from Ry.com.au in exchange for a review of my experience with the site and my first impressions. All opinions are honest and my own, and are not influenced by complimentary products.

In my experience, Ry.com.au generally offer major discounts from the regular retail price of most items and have the largest skincare, haircare and cosmetics online store in Australia so the vast range of products you have to choose from can almost be overwhelming!

Shipping is free for orders over $99, or a flat rate of $6.95 for any orders below $99. They also have a variety of sales that they have each week offering bonus samples or products from different brands depending on what you would like to purchase. At the moment, if you spend $49 or more on products from Gorgeous Cosmetics you receive a massive gift pack from them which you can read about here. Finally, Ry.com.au have an amazing return policy where you have 120 days for hassle-free returns and you can send back any items you aren't 100% happy with in exchange for store credit! I think that is a great policy to have and one that all online stores should implement.

Now, on to the goods! Here is what I received from Ry.com.au

Ry.com.au Haul and First Impressions

1. Glo-Minerals Blush in Rosebud ($32.40 AUD)

I've never tried any products from Glo Minerals before, so I was excited to receive this gorgeous rose-toned blush called 'rosebud'. It's super pigmented, and a gorgeous mid tone rose, perfect for an everyday look to give the cheeks some colour. This would be a lovely shade for the autumn/winter season as well so I was so happy to discover it this week!

2. Alpha-H Liquid Gold Anti-Ageing Cleanser ($41.04 AUD for 100ml)

I'm already a massive fan of Alpha-H, and I swear by their Balancing Cleanser, Liquid Gold, and their Balancing and Pore Refining Mask. I was happy to see this facial wash in my goody bag, it contains glycolic and lactic acids which are both excellent for the skin and promote cell renewal. This cleanser is very moisturising and definitely won't strip the skin and make it feel tight and dry. It has a neutral scent, and tingles slightly on the skin due to the glycolic acid which is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA). This cleanser is really good at removing makeup, but be sure to avoid your eye area as it wouldn't be suitable to get in the eyes due to the AHA component. I'm super impressed with this cleanser so far!

3. Becca Liquid Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal ($52.80 AUD)

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal

This product is right up my alley! I love highlighters and liquid illuminisers so I was super excited to try this lovely water based moisturizer from Becca. It offers SPF 20+ and contains light-diffusing particles to create radiant skin and reduce imperfections. You could apply this alone and wear it as a regular moisturizer to add some glow to your skin, or apply it underneath makeup as a primer. You could also apply this over your makeup as a liquid highlight on your cheekbones or under your brows, or you could apply it like I did and mix it in directly with a matte foundation to make it more luminous.

I loved the results I got with mixing this with my foundation. In the picture at the end of this post, I am wearing my Covergirl 3-in-1 Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation which is a full coverage, matte foundation and with this illuminiser mixed in it adds some radiance and glow to the face. I would recommend this product for sure!

4. Becca Radiant Skin Creamy Concealer ($36 AUD)

Becca Radiant Skin Creamy Concealer

I had some high hopes for this concealer pen since it's name is very similar to the NARS radiant creamy concealer which is a favourite of mine. Unfortunately, I had issues with having to click the pen for what felt like a million times before the product would come out, and when I finally did get it to work, too much product came out in a thick blob. The formula of this concealer is extremely thick which is not what I would look for in a concealer pen.

Becca Radiant Skin Creamy Concealer

Ideally this would be used under the eyes, or for blemishes however I found the formula was so thick and quick-drying that it was difficult to apply and blend out without it appearing cakey. I used the shade 'praline' which was a good match for my skin but other than that I did not enjoy using this product and I would not recommend it which is too bad because Becca is a great, high quality brand. I had to mix this concealer with moisturiser to get the consistency I was after where I applied it for the picture at the end of this post.

5. Dermalogica Concealing Spot Treatment ($30.24 AUD)

Dermalogica Concealing Spot Treatment

I have some skincare products that I really love from Dermalogica, but I haven't come across this concealing spot treatment before. This is a product aimed at assisting people who may have blemishes or pimples that they want to cover up during the day and also treat the blemish so it can heal. Sometimes when we apply heavy makeup over a pimple it could aggravate it, but this clever spot treatment contains healing and acne-fighting ingredients such as sulfur and zinc oxide to treat the spot, while also containing a natural skin color tint to cover over the blemish. This is basically a medicated concealer, so I would still apply powder over top to set but that is completely up to you. Really cool idea, and definitely good for me since my skin has been hating me this past month! As far as I can tell it only comes in one 'universal' shade, but I found it to be a true medium tone, so I imagine if you are quite pale this would be much too dark for you. You can see my swatch below.

Here are some pictures wearing the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal mixed with Covergirl 3-in-1 Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation, Glo Minerals Blush in Rosebud and Becca Concealer in Praline (mixed with moisturiser).

I would highly reccomend purchasing any skincare, hair care or makeup products from Ry.com.au as they have amazing customer service, a huge variety of genuine products at discounted prices, as well as super fast shipping! I hope you enjoyed this post, and please let me know if there are any other online stores or products you've been wondering about that you would like to have reviewed! Have a great day!

  3. Blushes are definitely a priority! I feel you girl! I bought mine when my skin was giving me a hard time and honestly one bottle will last you a million year or until it goes off because you only use a small amount of product, so if you look at it that way it is actually quite affordable :)

  4. No problem. I chose just to list the blog's I follow and truly love, rather than stick to the less than 200 followers rule. We can all stand to find some more blog's to read :)
Thanks for answering my questions on my post though! Completely understandable.

  5. I love it too Joy! It's so calming and heeling isn't it? Having dry skin would be so hard because most spot treatments aim to be very drying which is not what you want! What other spot treatments do you like?

  10. My understanding is that the buffering lotion is better for cystic/under the skin acne! I would agree since it's probably the only spot treatment I've tried that actually makes a difference with those sorts of pimples! Whereas the drying lotion is mainly for whiteheads :)

  11. Love the Lush Tea Tree toner! I need to grab some Mario Badescu drying lotion when my Origins spot remover is all used up! Great post, love seeing other people's go-tos for bad skin days! xxx

I used to love RY I have purchased from them a number of times over the years but this year I had a bad experience with them and will unlikely purchase from them again. I purchased a few things after the order went through I got an email 3 days later saying 2/3 items were now out of stock. It was going to be a 1-2 week wait so I requested a refund. It took 3 weeks for me to get my money back and several emails. It was such a hassle. It's really turned me off their site unfortunately.

  22. Yay! I'm so glad you like Ry.com as well! I think their site is brilliant! I also think that generally products that mix skincare with makeup are a bad idea, but this one is actually pretty good :) I still put normal makeup on top though which defeats the purpose haha x

  27. Yes! You so have to try Becca cosmetics because it goes perfectly with your name! For real though, the highlighter is the bomb! I've also heard great things about their pressed highlighters as well. You should definitely go ahead and make an order maybe when they have a special deal on that appeals to you. They recently had some great 7 piece skincare sets when you spend over $99 so I am always looking out for when to place an order depending on what deals they have :) Thanks for your comment!
