April Monthly Favourites: 2015

As the year seems to be flying past, there's a few new and old products I've been turning to over the past month. I'm certainly looking forward to what this next month has to bring! I'm excited to celebrate a peaceful Mother's day with my fiancé's mom and family. I hope I can do something special for my own mom as well (although we will be apart from each other). It's also my birthday month, and I'm looking forward to wearing boots and sweaters as the weather gets cooler. It's officially less than six months until my wedding so let me know if you'd like to see any posts relating to that and what you'd like to know!

Now on to my favourite beauty finds & rediscoveries over the month of April ...

1. Australis Colour Mineral Inject Lipstick in Samba ($12.95 AUD)

If already done a massive blog post ages ago declaring my love for these lippes from Australis Cosmetics with swatches of almost all of them that you can find here. Samba was a rediscovery for me this month as it is a perfect transitional shade for autumn. Samba is a gorgeous mid-tone dusty rose colour that adds some colour and depth to the lips without being too bold or bright. It's been an easy go-to lip shade for me this month and for the price, you can't go wrong!

 2. Morphe Brushes Jaclyn Hill Favourites Palette ($35.48 AUD)

Morphe Brushes Jaclyn Hill Favourites Palette Swatches

This palette hasn't been without its controversies, with many people left without shipping confirmations and tracking details when ordering, experiencing the site crashing or receiving damaged palettes. With that being said, if you'd like know to more about Morphe Brushes, I'd encourage you to do research on public forums for other people's experiences. Fortunately, my experience was quite positive. I was able to score a palette during it's first batch of releases and received my shipping confirmation details within about 10 days. Shipping itself took about 10 days and my palette arrived undamaged. I've had this for a few months now but really broke it out into the rotation this month.

This is a GORGEOUS palette both in terms of the variety of shades that are offered, both shimmer and matte shades, as well as the pigmentation which is honestly really good considering the price point. I love this palette and have been turning to it for eyeshadow looks almost every day this week and am starting to get much more creative with my eyeshadow using the beautiful array of colours. Unfortunately I believe this palette is no longer available due to high demand, but I thought it was worth mentioning if you have one that is collecting dust or see it being sold by someone else, I'd highly recommend it.

I've swatched my favourite shades below on my arm for you to see. I also included some close up pictures of some of the more shimmery shades since some of them seem to have a beautiful duo-chrome finish and some very fine sparkle. They are stunning.

 3. V05 Give Me Texture - Dry Texturising Spray ($6.99 AUD)

I cannot sing my praises for this product from V05 enough!!! It is my go-to hair product when my hair is feeling flat and *ugh* and I don't know how to make it look nice. It gives the hair extra volume, while also absorbing oil similar to a dry shampoo. I love this for when I want to wear my hair half up or have a 'poof' and it just gives it that extra volume it needs. This  type of product usually comes in a powder form but I find the spray bottle much quicker for an instant shot of volume in the morning when I'm in a rush. I find this spray is a great multi-use product and it's also super affordable!

Bourjois Blush in Rose D'or Swatch

I love these cute little blush pots from Bourjois, one of my favourite drugstore brands. These come with a tiny brush in the pot, as well as a small mirror and magnetic closure. They have a gorgeous rose scent but those that are sensitive to fragrances may not like it as it is somewhat strong but I think it's amazing! I love this shade Rose D'or which means rose gold in French. the pot is a mid tone rosy pink with little gold flecks throughout. It is not overly pigmented but gives a beautiful rosy glow to the cheeks and the gold specks add a more luminous touch. Perfect drugstore, everyday blush. I've had this blush for ages now but I have been using it a lot more over the past few weeks.

I was so skeptical of this little kit from e.l.f when I first bought it, and only really picked it up out of curiosity. The packaging is pretty basic and comes with a baby angled brush for arching eyebrows and a thicker brush to fill them in. I wouldn't suggest using those as they are way too small, but I love taking a small angled brush and using the wax side to outline the shape I want for my brows and lightly filling them in. The wax is very soft and creamy and very easy to work with. I then take the lighter complementing powder and fill in any sparse areas and set the brow. They both work together quite well, and as you can see from the picture I posted under the V05 spray, it really makes my brows look bold and tidy. I like using this over my ABH Dip Brow when I am more rushed in the morning and don't have as much time to commit to the dip brow which comes off a lot more dark and bold and therefore require more precise application. An eyebrow kit for under $10 is worth mentioning! It also comes in a variety of shades (ash, light, medium, dark).

6. Max Factor Masterpiece Transform High Impact Volumising Mascara ($23.95 AUD)

Max Factor Masterpiece Transform High Impact Volumising Mascara

I received this mascara in my autumn box from Marie Claire's The Parcel which you can read about here. I have really been loving this Max Factor mascara as you can see by my before and after pictures below. This one has a plastic, bristled brush that really latches on to all of your lashes and even catches the tiny ones in the inner corner. It provides both length and volume without looking clumpy or spidery. I love how black and pigmented the formula is because it makes the eyes look more dramatic and noticeable even if all you are wearing is mascara. A winner in my eyes ;)

7. Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation  ($16.95 AUD)

Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation

This Covergirl foundation has just recently been released at Priceline, and I was intrigued to try it since I really love one my holy grail foundation the 3-in-1 Outlast Stay Fabulous. Ready Set Gorgeous is a lightweight, creamy foundation that has a matte finish without looking heavy or cakey. The coverage is excellent, it evens out skintone, conceals redness and most blemishes with one application. I find that the foundation isn't drying at all, while it also does a good job at keeping my t-zone matte. I've been really enjoying this foundation and love the way it makes my skin look flawless. I have found this is best to apply with a flat top kabuki brush and then blend in with a beauty blender. The only downfall is that this foundation is only available in a meager 4 shades at Priceline compared to 13 available shades in the US. I got 210 - Medium Beige and it suits my skintone perfectly. I'm an NC25 or NARS Fiji for reference.
