ColourPop Haul & First Impressions (Lippie Stix, Blushes and Super Shock Shadows)

Happy Tuesday to all my gorgeous followers! Today I am doing a highly requested blog post all about my first ever experience with the super hyped brand ColourPop who you may have recently heard many Beauty Bloggers and Youtubers raving about lately. They seem to me most well known for their Lippie Stix and Shadows. So of course, I made sure to order lots of those to review for you!

ColourPop are a US brand from Los Angeles, that specialize in providing their customers with good quality products that are available in a huge array of different colours! They even welcome feedback from their customers if you have an idea for a new shade for them to create. They do not test their products on animals and lucky for us, provide international shipping so you can get your hands on their products if you live in USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the US Virgin Islands! According to their website, ColourPop are working on expanding their shipping to include more countries as well.

ColourPop have recently released a line of blushes and highlighters as well! When I made this order, their highlighters were not yet released but I did pick up some blushes to review for you as well!

Packaging

I was pretty curious about how these products would arrive on my doorstep, since I have heard a lot of feedback from friends as well as customers on their social media pages complaining that their eyeshadows had arrived broken. It seems that the circular pots where the eyeshadows are housed can be easily damaged and crack when not treated with care.

Fortunately for me, ColourPop must be taking this feedback on board since all of my items were carefully wrapped up in foam sheets as you can see from the picture above. I am happy to report that none of my eyeshadows arrived cracked or damaged at all.*happy dance*

Shipping and Delivery Time

Now, if you are living in Australia like me, you'd probably be interested to know I placed my order on 18th April. I received an e-mail confirmation saying it was being shipped on 24th April. I then received my goodies on 12th May. So pretty much from start to finish it took about a full month which is quite a lengthy wait if you are anything like me and pretty much want to play with your purchases as soon as you order them! Keep this in mind when making your order. I also paid $25.96 USD in shipping so that is also a consideration when making your order as they do not offer a flat rate for shipping, however I did have a decent amount of products so I bit the bullet.

Blushes

Naturally I had to order some blushes to try them out for you guys, *ahem* we all know I didn't need any new blushes, but it was all for the sake of my blog and making sure you all get the most accurate information for when you might make an order (yes, that is what I'll keep telling myself).

I tried to pick up a good variety of shades and ended up deciding on Between The SheetsPrenup and Asiaphrodic. Each blush retails for $8 USD.

ColourPop Blush Swatches in Between the Sheets, Prenup & Aphrodisiac

Between The Sheets is a mid-tone beige pink and a perfect everyday blush colour. It has a matte finish and blends easily into the cheeks. This one is a no brainer and I think if you want to play it safe get this shade because it would suit everyone!

Prenup is described as mid-tone plum pink and is a satin finish. I was hoping it would be a little more plum than it appears in these swatches, however I still think it's gorgeous. I do feel like it appears to be a more mid-tone cool pink but I don't feel like it is necessarily plum.

Aphrodisiac I chose as more of a contour. It is described as a soft beige brown with matte finish which I think describes it perfectly. It is a little on the warm side so it may not suit everyone as a contour but it could certainly be used as a bronzer and warm up the face.

Lippie Stix

The LippieStix seem to be a definite cult favourite amongst ColourPop fans. They remind me a little of the Bite Beauty Creme Lip Crayons but have a wind up tip so there is no need to sharpen them. They are almost like a lipliner and lipstick hybrid. The packaging is plastic but seems pretty sturdy and I haven't had any issues with any breakage of the tips. These Lippie Stix retail for $5 USD each.

Again, I tried to order a variety of different shades to ensure I could test both pigmentation of light and darker shades, and across the board, these Lippie Stix are intensely pigmented, probably some of the most pigmented lip products I've ever come across for the price! I'm really happy with all the colours I chose.

ColourPop Lippie Stix (Top to Bottom): Go Fish, Corset, Lumière, Tootsi

Go Fish is a vibrant coral red with a hyper glossy finish so it's super shiny and looks amazing on the lips! It's a lovely bright red shade and leans on the cooler side.

Corset is described as a true pink lavender, which is one of my absolute favourite lip shades to purchase as they are often difficult to find! This shade is definitely a true mauve/lavender and I love it!!! It is also a hyper glossy finish.

Lumière has had a lot of hype around it since it was developed by Youtuber Kathleen Lights. It is described as a dusty pink mauve, and it is really stunning. The swatches honestly do not do it justice because this shade is so pretty, and would suit almost anyone which is why Kathleen chose it.

Tootsi is described as a cool-toned grey beige (see: greige) and is a matte finish. The greige trend is very in right now and Tootsi has been said to be a good dupe for the ever popular Lime Crime Velvetine in Cashmere I am not a supporter of Lime Crime for various reasons, so I don't own that lip product to compare, but I'm interested to see what you all think from the swatch if it would be a good dupe!

I just took this picture to show you all when I was trying to remove these swatches on my arm using my Simple Micellar Cleansing Water, they were so difficult to remove! These babies will stay on your lips all day and barely need any touch ups! They feel super comfortable on the lips and I didn't find them drying at all. I would consider them to be very long-lasting and definitely affordable, even when you convert them to australian dollars.

Super Shock Shadows + Pigments

There are literally hundreds of Super Shock Shadows and Pigments on the ColourPop website, so I had to try to restrain myself when making an order to test out some of these shades. I ended up ordering the Where The Light Is foursome by Kathleen Lights since the swatches looked really nice online and like shades that I would be able to incorporate into my regular makeup looks. I certainly wasn't disappointed with my choice.

ColourPop Where The Light Is Swatches

Although this pack of four eyeshadows looks like a palette from the packaging, it opens up to reveal four single shadows, as this is the way all other ColourPop shadows are stored in a circular plastic pot. This may annoy those who prefer palettes, but I like the convenience of being able to mix and match single shadow shades, and just take one shade with me if there was one that I particularly liked! These shades are only available in the four pack and cannot be purchased individually. The Where The Light Is collection costs $20 USD so each eyeshadow remains $5 USD each.

ColourPop Where The Light Is Swatches
ColourPop Where The Light Is Swatches (L-R): Blaze, KathleenLights, Cornelius, Glow

Glow - A creamy vanilla shade with a matte finish.

Cornelius - A mid tone warm caramel with a matte finish. A perfect transition or crease shade.

KathleenLights - A bright golden copper. This is probably my favourite shade. So pretty!!!

Blaze - Described as coco bronze sprinkled with multi-dimensional glitter and is a metallic finish. Also very eye-catching and gorgeous for a night out!

ColourPop Where The Light Is Swatches

I don't feel like the swatches have done the shades justice! They are much more vibrant and eye-catching in person. I really like these for something different, however because of the formula they will obviously be more difficult to blend in the crease so perhaps keep that in mind when you purchase shades. I will most likely be purchasing more shades that would be great to pat on the centre of the lid as that is my preferred way to apply them.

 The Verdict

I'm definitely impressed with the products I've tried from ColourPop. They aren't just a paid advertisement from Beauty Bloggers and Youtubers, but I think they have been promoted because the Lippie Stix, Blushes and Super Shock Shadows are very innovative in terms of their formula and pigmentation.

My current ColourPop Collection

For those that live in the US, they are also a steal because they are so affordably priced. For those of us that have to convert to AUD as well as pay shipping, they become less affordable, but are still very comparable and in some cases cheaper than our drugstore alternatives. I'd highly recommend any and all of the products I have tried from ColourPop and will probably get more products in the future. I think it is more worthwhile to purchase products in larger amounts so that shipping is more worthwhile, or splitting an order with a friend that lives near you.

Have you tried any products from ColourPop? What did you think?

  2. I just uploaded my haul as well! I'm still planning on doing reviews and a brand focus post :) Shipping was pretty ridiculous but when you think about the fact that they're a new, smaller company and how affordable the products are, I think it's justified! Oh and I don't think they ship completely internationally!? I think its just US, Australia and NZ? I just know they don't ship everywhere!

  3. I'll definitely check out your post now! It will be great to see a more in depth review and brand focus too :) Great idea! I still think the products are pretty affordable even with shipping! Thanks for letting me know about the shipping! I thought they did ship everywhere but you're right it is only USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Guam, and US Virgin Islands. I've updated the post to reflect this! Thanks so much again, I wouldn't want anyone to be disappointed. They say on their website they are looking to expand to new countries so hopefully they do eventually ship everywhere :) Thanks so much for your comment! xx

Huuuuge fan of Colourpop! I actually reviewed the Lippie Stix over on the blog not too long ago! I absolutely love Lumiere - it is so incredibly beautiful! I also highly recommend Frida, which surprisingly enough, is a colour that even the BF seems to love (weird!). I've been thinking about getting some of the Lip pencils to match, because they're just so good!
I also have the Shaaanxo eyeshadows which I love (but haven't reviewed yet cause I'm a bit slack!), but really, really want to get my hands on the Kathleen Lights ones!
Love all your photos so much, they're really making me want to try Tootsi!

I get so impatient. A month wait would kill me lol. I am so used to express shipping even from UK/US. I love the look of the products though particularly the blushes.
