How-To: Pink Lips & Brown Smokey Eye

I haven't done a makeup tutorial for your beauties in a while so I thought I'd share this simple look with you, which is one of my favourites for a night out or a slightly fancier makeup look for work or everyday out and about. This look includes a full coverage base with a subtle brown smokey eye including winged liner and a pink lip. I think this is a really feminine but sophisticated look and I was happy with how this came out so I decided to share it  with you all today.

To achieve a flawless, and full coverage base, I first applied my Bare Minerals Brightening Foundation Primer, this is a great primer for smoothing fine lines and reducing the appearance of pores. I then went in with my L’Oreal True Match Foundation in N3 Creamy Beige which is an affordable full-coverage drugstore foundation that provides a matte finish but still looks natural if applied lightly and blended in with a buffing brush. For this look, the base is very important so I used two concealers, first I used the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard to cover up any remaining redness or blemishes which weren’t covered by the foundation and patted them in carefully with a flat top kabuki brush. If this concealer is out of your budget, you can use any high coverage concealer that matches your skin tone, try the CovergirlReady Set Gorgeous Concealer (I use the shade medium). I then applied my MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NC15 for brightening underneath my eyes and covering up any dark circles. I apply a very small amount and blend it in with a Beauty Blender. I set my foundation with the Australis Fresh & Flawless Pressed Powder in Deep Natural with a very light hand to avoid any cakeyness.

For the eyes, I applied my Mac Pro LongwearPaint Pot in Soft Ochre (not pictured), but you can use any eye primer you have. I then used my Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette to create a soft brown smokey eye. I started off with Milk Chocolate and Semi-Sweet in the crease, and built up the darkness towards the outer corners using Triple Fudge and a little bit of Gilded Ganache and blending those out really well with a fluffy blending brush. I added Marzipan to the centre of my lid, and built up the colour, then blended out any remaining shadow into the crease. I then applied Champagne Truffle to the inner corner of my eyes and blended that out slightly, and finished by highlighting under the brow bone with White Chocolate. I finished off by using my favorite Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner and creating a slight wing and finished off my using my Benefit Roller Lash Mascara which creates a dramatic lash effect without needing falsies!

For brows, I used my Lorac Take a Brow Kit in the shade Brunette with a small precision angled brush. I applied the darkest brown powder to create the shape I wanted to define the arch, and then cleaned my brush and applied the clear wax over the top to set the brows.

For the rest of my face, I wanted to keep it simple but fresh. I used some Benefit Hoola Bronzer to do some slight contouring around the cheekbones and my temples. For blush, I applied MAC Powder Blush in Margin which is a peachy beige shade with slight golden shimmer all over the apples of my cheeks and blended outwards. This is one of my favourite blushes next to Warm Soul! I applied TheBalm Mary Lou-Manizer as a highlight to the tops of my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose and cupids bow and also added a tiny bit to the inner corners of my eyes by sweeping some on my index finger and patting it in.

For lipstick, I was first going to use my Antipodes Lipstick in Sun in Cuba (pictured in products image) but I have a look coming with that one featured later on the blog! I thought that pink lips suited the look a little better, and switched it up at the last minute with my MAC Lipstick in Chatterbox. Does anyone else have a hard time deciding on their lip color? The struggle is real! This shade is a perfect mid tone pink, that doesn't run too cool or too warm and provides a nice punch of colour. I love it.

Well I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial! It's nothing too hard or too fancy, but I figured that these easy looks are some of the best to share with you all since they are simple to pick up and try for yourself! Remember you don't need to use all the same products as me, just use similar products that are within your budget or can achieve a similar look with products that you already own! If you have any questions or are wondering about an alternative product to use, just let me know!
