Mecca Maxima Beauty Loop Box: Level 2 Review

For those of you that live in Australia, you would already know Mecca Maxima is the place to go for many exclusive brands that can only be found at Mecca within Australia (some exclusions now that Sephora is infiltrating into Sydney and Melbourne). You can order these brands online, but Mecca actually allows you to swatch things in store which many Australians weren't able to do before it opened. I love Mecca Maxima, and I have to say I have never had a bad experience there. Whenever a product is out of stock, they have sourced it for me from other stores and sent it to me express at no extra cost. They also have always been kind in giving me samples of new products to try and have an excellent returns policy (you can return used makeup items if they didn't work for you). I find the staff are very friendly and helpful and leave you to look around as much as you want which I love!

Mecca Maxima have a Beauty Loop Program, with three reward levels depending on how much you spend per year:

Level 1 - $399-$599
Level 2 - $600-$1199
Level 3 - $1200+

You get a box each quarter, that contains "a lovingly edited sample box of products for you to experience and enjoy" according to Mecca! They usually include a few deluxe sample sizes and then some smaller sachets to try. Obviously the higher your level, the more generous the boxes you receive. You can order your beauty loop box by purchasing something online and it will prompt you to add it to your cart, or you can pick them up in store free of charge. You will get an e-mail notification when they are available.

This quarter I was classified as a Level 2 (not far off of Level 3) Oops. I thought I would go through the contents with you now that I have been trying out these products over the past few weeks and can share my thoughts on each product and the box itself!

The Contents:

Chantecaille Faux Cils Mascara ($62 AUD)

I can't say it's very often that I pick up a $62 mascara, so I was of course happy to see this deluxe sample in my Level 2 box! I've used this a handful of times, and I'm enjoying it, but I definitely don't think it does anything to deserve its luxurious price tag, and I will be sticking with my drugstore favourites when this one runs out! Still, it makes you appreciate some of the really great selections that Mecca have provided in this box. I also like the variety since Chantecaille is not a brand I have tried before.

By Terry Baume De Rose Lip Balm ($84 AUD)

Ugh this stuff is amazing! I used up all of my sample and it was a gorgeous lip balm that felt so luxurious on the lips and smells amazing as well. It's a thicker formula that really nourishes the lips and keeps them hydrated throughout the day. I almost cried when I looked up the pricetag of the full-size version. I have to say I would definitely purchase this but it's just not in my budget at the moment.

Sunday Riley Good Genes Treatment ($142 AUD)

I was so happy to see this offered as a sample! As you know from my Sounding out Samples series, I love being able to try out a more expensive product before purchase. This baby costs $142 from Mecca Maxima, ouch!!! Fortunately, I actually already own the full size of this product and love it!!! It has worked very well for me in smoothing out the surface of my skin and reducing pigmentation and redness. I personally think that with this sort of serum, it takes at least 4 uses to see any sort of results and longer to see major changes in the skin so I wish they included a few sachets for people to try. Still, what a great item to include considering this product is pretty luxury!

Nars Orgasm Lipgloss ($39 AUD)

This lipgloss gives some major shine while also providing a peachy golden shade with slight shimmer. I am not usually a massive fan of lipglosses but this looks really pretty on it's own or paired over a nude lip to add some extra shine and dimension. It is (slightly) sticky but it's also very cute and mini so I was happy to see this in my box this quarter! Nars products aren't cheap, so again this is a great way to try out a more expensive product!

Overall, I was extremely happy with my Level 2 box and I think all the products were really carefully chosen for customers to try. I would consider all of these brands to be high-end and some are quite luxurious and not usually brands we may think to try as they could be out of your usual budget. It's nice to experience these high-quality products to give us an idea of what is and isn't worth purchasing in the future. I also think the Beauty Loop Program is a great incentive to keep shopping at Mecca Maxima and being loyal to them instead of buying from overseas or from Sephora who don't offer such great loyalty programs. I am super excited for the next quarter now!!!
