August Monthly Favourites: 2015

Personal Update: These August monthly favourites have really made me excited! I only have one more monthly favourites post to prepare for you all before my WEDDING which is fast approaching!!! I am working hard to prepare enough content for at least one post a week, and hopefully more if I can. I will be offline from mid October to the end of November as I'll be away on my honeymoon (USA/Canada) and enjoying some time with my family. I'll post another reminder about this closer to that time!

For favourites this month, I really just kept it simple and stuck to items that I have basically been using each and every day. Keep reading for full details on the products shown above!

First up in the skincare department is the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Plus ($27.99 AUD) which is a topical treatment aimed at reducing breakouts and congestion while also minimizing pores and fading redness and acne scars. I have owned this product for well over six months now, but I've only really starting using it consistently within the last 4-6 weeks and I have noticed a great reduction in my breakouts. This can be worn under makeup as it drys quite matte but I prefer to wear it before I go to bed and apply it like a serum.

In terms of a nighttime moisturiser, I ran out of my holy grail Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask, and it was sold out at all the Mecca Maxima stores that I tried. I opted to try something different, and picked up this People for Plants Night Cream ($29.99 AUD) after it was recommended to me by my fellow blogging babe Brittany (Brittersblog). This night cream is certified organic and made in Australia. I like how you can read and understand the ingredients and believe this would be a great option for anyone with sensitive skin. I like to give myself a boost of moisture at night so I wake up with soft, plump skin. This cream contains shea butter, coconut oil, rosemary leaf extract and apricot kernel oil. It is super hydrating and skins into the skin overnight. The products isn't actually scented but I am not overly fond of the way it smells, it's hard to describe but it's definitely not as pleasant as the origins night cream! I also love the packaging of this cream as it comes with a pump and would be easy to take traveling.

How could we miss my cute little mug purchase from Miss Poppy Design? They have the cutest prints, stationary and coffee mugs I've ever seen! This definitely won't be my last purchase from the site. The Hustle Mug ($22 AUD) just generally makes me happy and feel motivated for the day ahead. Sometimes you just need to drink your tea or coffee from something cute and it doesn't need explanation.

Next up, as you may have seen from my recent Zoeva Cosmetics Haul Post, this Zoeva Luxe Cream Lipstick in Faith & Love ($13.66 AUD) is a current obsession of mine. It is very warm tones and comes off a peachy orange shade but I find it really complimentary to my skintone. It is creamy, moisturising and pigmented and I have been getting lots of compliments whenever I wear it. Now I want more shades from the brand!

This black bowler bag from Kmart was such a steal! I actually just needed a new everyday work bag that wasn't too big or too small, and I liked having handles and a shoulder strap. As I am currently putting a lot of my savings towards our wedding and honeymoon, I wasn't in the market for a more expensive bag and opted for this one for just $20 AUD. I have been so surprised at the quality of the bag. I have been putting everything and anything into this handbag and throwing it around and it has really held up well. I like how it is more structured so it can sit up on it's own, it's very simple with silver detailing and a small zipper pocket inside, with some internal pockets for your mobile phone and keys. For this price you really can't go wrong and I have had a lot of people ask me where I purchased this from and they don't believe me when I say Kmart!

I'm sure you may be sick of hearing about this foundation as it has just been released here in Australia and has been all the talk - but I have to say I really can't sing it's praises enough. Although I wouldn't consider this the perfect everyday foundation, simply because I don't require a high coverage foundation on a daily basis, the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation ($58 AUD) has been my go-to base for special occasions or any events where I'm wanting to look my best. It photographs quite nicely and doesn't contain any SPF so no white flashbacks. It is also oil-free, so it doesn't clog your pores. I have a full review of this foundation which you can check out here. I personally really love it and feel it is much more blendable and wearable than other high coverage foundations I have tried such as the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation and it doesn't break me out or feel heavy on my skin. It is also really long lasting for those oily skinned gals that may be wondering,

Finally, a brow kit that offers a tinted brow gel and accompanying brow powder that actually work well together and come in a brown shade that isn't overwhelmingly warm-toned!!! For any fellow brunette babes out there, I can't express how frustrating it is at how warm-toned most eyebrow powders are for medium-dark brown shades. They often have a reddish tinge to them that don't suit many brunettes, including myself.

This Rimmel Brow This Way Brow Sculpting Kit* ($12.95 AUD) is a deadset dupe for the Benefit Brow Zings (comparison post coming soon). I love that it comes with a pigmented brow gel, as well as an accompanying neutral brown powder that doesn't lean too warm or too cool. I chose the shade dark brown. Together this combination has been amazing for everyday! I have been loving how easy the gel glides on and sticks to the brow hairs to create some additional shape, then I fill in with the powder for an extra perfected look and to cover any sparse areas. It also comes with a cute little dual sided brush and a mini spoolie. If the packaging came with a mirror it would be VERY handy, but for this price who can complain really?

I also really like the accompanying Brow This Way Brow Styling Gel* ($12.95 AUD) . Although the kit I purchased in dark brown, the medium brown gel seemed to be the best match for me. I sometimes apply only the brow styling gel and then quickly go over it with the powder from the kit for a super fast brow look. I'm pleasantly surprised with these super affordable offerings from Rimmel and I'd highly recommend them to up your brow game without having to shell out for Benefit or ABH products.

I'm glad that this new eyeliner offering is from Maybelline, so I don't have to feel so bad about cheating on my beloved Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner! This new liner, the Maybelline HyperSharp Wing Liquid Liner ($16.95 AUD) is designed to have a thin and thick side. I actually didn't really use it as it was intended and just applied it as usual. I really the dark black pigmentation of the formula and find you only need to create your line in one swoop to get an ultra dark wing which I love.
