Battle of the BB Creams: My Favourite No Fuss Bases

When you're in a rush, you need to meet a friend for coffee, run to the grocery store or just look human, sometimes all you want is an easy base that will even out your skintone and help you to look presentable. Generally these types of bases are aimed at daytime use and also include an SPF, making them a great multi-tasker for busy people! Today I'm taking you through some of my favourite BB & CC creams which I turn to for a really quick and easy makeup look.

Nars Tinted Moisturiser in St. Moritz

Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser ($62 AUD)

I have this one in a deluxe sample size, which is a great size for trying out the product to see if you like it before dropping all your cash for the full-sized version. I picked mine up from Sephora when I was overseas, however Mecca Maxima carry the full-sized version. I bought the shade St. Moritz which is aimed at medium skin tones and has a yellow undertone. It really only suits me well when I am fairly tanned. Alaska is probably closer to my natural skintone. A pro of this product is that it comes in a variety of different shades which you may not always find in a tinted moisturiser.

The formula is very hydrating and provides sheer coverage to hide redness and imperfections, as well as providing SPF 30. This tinted moisturiser feels great on the skin and it suits my combination skin nicely. I think normal to dry skin types would love this as well but if you're oily you may want to keep looking because the formula is quite dewy and you may find this won't last on you. I really like this for when I'm going to the beach or don't need a lot of coverage.

Chi Chi Super BB Cream in Medium

Chi Chi Super BB Cream ($22.95 AUD)

This is a great affordable option for a BB cream that provides sheer to medium coverage while also being extremely hydrating. This BB cream has surprisingly good coverage and the formula is quite buildable, so you can work it up to cover what you want. I use the shade medium which works well for me, but their are four different shades available. I'd say this one is a great option if you like the sound of the Nars Tinted Moisturiser but it's not in your price range since they are a similar formula, the Chi Chi BB Cream is slightly creamier and more hydrating and the Nars slightly more blendable, while both contain SPF 30. This one would work best for normal to dry skin types. I also love how this one contains a pump which makes it so easy to use and mess-free!

Rimmel Radiance BB Cream in Medium

Rimmel Radiance BB Cream* ($12.95)

The cheapest base option out of the lot, however definitely not a disappointment! This BB cream is a slightly thicker formula compared to the others but doesn't feel heavy and provides a decent amount of hydration. I find this one to be very brightening and creates a radiant finish on the face. It would be great for anyone that is wanting to give their dull skin a boost. Again, the coverage here is quite nice and can be built up easily since the formula blends out easily. I use the shade medium and it's a nice neutral shade. This product also contains SPF 20 and has a travel friendly bottle easy to throw in your carry-on bag. I also find that this one lasts pretty well if set with a powder and doesn't feel heavy on the skin so I think it would be a good option for you, especially if your skin is on the oilier side. One of the only negatives is that this one only comes in three shades, so it won't suit everyone.

It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream Review

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream ($38 USD)

The hardest to source base is sometimes worth the hassle, at least in this case it is! When I first used this product, I was highly skeptical reading "full coverage cream" and "color correcting", these seemed like awfully big claims for a CC cream. However, this product from IT Cosmetics really offers something different to consumers. It contains SPF 50+ so if you are going on vacation or putting up with Australia's ridiculously warm summer, you're instantly covered. It also has the best coverage of any BB, CC or tinted moisturiser I have ever tried. I would say the coverage is medium but can be built up to be full very quickly. The formula is a medium thickness but very blendable and as you let it sink into your skin it becomes a demi-matte finish and makes skin look healthy and glowing. It also has a citrus smell that I really love but others may disagree with me. I feel like this would work for most skin types, since it sets really nicely and I don't find it gets greasy or oily at all.

This has become my #1 go-to base to use everyday. I don't like a sheer coverage for work, I like for all my redness and blemishes to be covered and this has replaced my everyday foundations because I feel I get the coverage I need while still letting my skin feel hydrated and breathe and having sunscreen all in one!!! I can't really recommend this product any more. The major issue is that It Cosmetics can hard to source here in Australia but you can purchase their products here from Beautylish. You can also get them from Sephora if you live in/near Sydney and they come in a 12ml deluxe sample size (pictured above) which is perfect for testing it out! The full-sized version also has a pump which I really love!

Well, I hope you liked my fuss free base roundup! I honestly enjoy all of these options and I think you can definitely find something for every skin type and budget!
