What's in My Travel Makeup Bag: Take Two

I love reading what people take with them when they go on trips. Whether it's for one week, or six weeks, you really can do with a small arrangement of makeup if you bring the right items. I am notoriously an overpacker, but since I knew I wanted to buy some new makeup items on my trip, I tried my best to pack only the essential makeup items, and I think I did pretty well!

You can see a What's In My Travel Makeup Bag post I did a while back, here.
To see what I packed on my most recent trip, keep on reading!

My makeup bag is pretty big and has a zipper that goes all the way around. I got it from Priceline a few years ago. I'm not a big fan of makeup bags with heaps of different compartments, and this one keeps it simple with a main storage area and a zipper at the top part which has a mesh pocket for smaller items like lip liners or tweezers.

I have to say that I took a chance by bringing along only one palette with me and choosing the Zoeva Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette. I had uhmed and ahhed about taking other palettes but this one is just very travel friendly and has a variety of shades to do a daytime or nighttime look. I definiitely made the right decision as I used it everyday and created so many different looks with this palette. I couldn't recommend it more if you haven't tried it already. You can read more about this baby in my September Monthly Favourites and swatches of the palette in my Zoeva Cosmetics Haul. The shades on the bottom left Pure Ganache, Substitute for Love and Freshly Toasted make the most amazing combo for a warm smokey eye and golden lid. I used them all the time on my trip!

I didn't include my brush set in this post, however I just used a small brush roll and filled it with:

These are my favourite, everyday brushes and I used them all on my trip!

In terms of base products, I did end up bringing along a travel size of the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer which is not pictured because I used it all on my trip. I found the Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face SPF 30+ does double up really well as a sunscreen and makeup base which could replace my primer most days.

The Napoleon Perdis Stroke of Genius Liquid Cashmere Foundation was a god send on my trip and worked perfectly when I needed some more coverage or to look flawless for a dinner or night out. It is medium to full coverage and blends out like a dream (featured in my recent October & November Monthly Favourites). For everyday, I turned to my trusty IT Cosmetics CC Cream in Medium which also contains SPF 50+ and pretty decent coverage for a tinted cream. I was so proud for only bringing two foundations! I did buy a few others on my trip but it's the thought that counts.

I think what really assisted keeping my makeup bag light was only bringing 1 blush and 1 highlighter. I did get a little sick of wearing the same blush everyday, but Makeup Geek Romance is such a beautiful colour that it still suited any look that I created. TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer just never gets old and it was the only highlighter I needed.

I only brought three lip shades!!! (4 if you count the one that slipped into my purse) and I found it worked well to choose 1 everyday shade (light pink), 1 bold/darker colour, 1 bright shade and 1 nude. It leaves you with options. I purchased other lip products on my trip and I was glad I didn't overpack. I definitely felt sad not having my collection in front of me to pick and choose whichever shade I wanted on the day but I had enough options to keep myself sane. My Nars Audacious Lipstick in Raquel which isn't pictured here, made it's way into my carry-on bag so I did also have a great nude option to match my other choices.

Big shoutout to my ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Too Soon for being an amazing eyeshadow that I could pop on for lazy days that still looks amazing with nothing else added. I used it SO MUCH.

Well, I hope this post might help you if you are getting ready to go somewhere over the holidays, or even just heading out for the weekend. This is definitely the lightest I have travelled makeup wise in a long time and I survived six weeks with these makeup items (with a few Sephora and MAC purchases). Not bad!

What would be one of your essential items in your travel makeup bag?
