January Coffee Break: 2016

Hi beauties! Welcome to the first Coffee Break of 2016! I decided to start this series, so you guys can get to know me better over the next year. As much as I love writing about makeup and beauty, there are also lots of other areas that I'm interested in, and just personal news I'd love to share with you guys so we can feel like friends and not strangers :) If you already follow Sarah from More Than Adored or Ebony from The Black and White Guide, they both have awesome little features where they talk about what's happening in their lives and I love reading them, which prompted me to create my own monthly series! Keep reading on to hear what I've been up to this month!

Trying to keep up with going to the gym and healthy eating.
This has been something I've been working on for a long time! I made my goal weight for my wedding back in October, but unfortunately gained quite a few kilos back after my honeymoon and overindulging on lots of food and no extra gym sessions. Ever since I got back from my honeymoon, I've been trying really hard to get back into my fitness routine. My husband, Michael and I go to the gym together so he's great at keeping me motivated. We have been going 4 times a week including a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) class that kills me every Monday! I recently picked up a new pair of sneakers as well to keep myself motivated! I love them.

Saving Money
Obviously there has been a massive theme throughout my blog so far this year about reducing my bad spending habits, especially on makeup and trying to get through more of my existing collection. I think I could definitely be a better saver, and we are really hoping to save up for a house sometime in the near future so I need to start being better with my money. I am hoping to pay off my credit card in the next six months and see my savings grow.

Brisbane Beauties Meetup
Fortunately for me, there are so many other amazing beauty bloggers in Brisbane and I can now say that I call many of them my friends! Since attending Obsession back in March 2015, I have stayed in touch with many of the girls I met through the event and we now regularly meet up for dinners, drinks, breakfasts, shopping dates, whatever it may be. This time we met up for some yummy aรงai bowls at a place in Southbank called Kiss the Berry and it was super yum. Too bad we were all dying from the sweltering heat and no air conditioning so it was just a short but sweet meetup.

You can find the girl's blogs here:

Working and Blogging
As lots of you already know, I work full-time at the moment in the community mental health sector. I studied psychology in uni and I really enjoy meeting so many different people in my work and helping them to find the services and supports they need. It can definitely be full on sometimes though, and usually at least one day of my weekend is spent working on the blog for you guys. I have been trying hard to plan out lots of content so I'm always about a month ahead. I am still working on that part but I have started to write and plan out all my ideas and it has definitely relieved a lot of stress from not knowing what to post, to know having so much content and trying to fit it all in.

Malouf Pharmacies Australian Brand Showcase
I won't say too much about this one, it just snuck in at the end of this month but I was fortunate enough to be invited to attend this event showcasing a lot of amazing australian beauty brands and featuring many of their new product releases. It was an amazing night and I plan to include some more information and photos in a separate post so you can hear all about it!

Currently Obsessed With:
All of K-Mart's home decor section! I just recently picked up two gorgeous marble side table lamps to amp up our bedroom and they're so cute. They have definitely recently upped their game. I also can't get enough of watching Making a Murderer, Luther, Freaks and Geeks and Jessica Jones which have all been recently finished on my Netflix account! Definitely my guilty pleasure on the weekend. Finally, I've been making a big effort to find items in my makeup collection that I already own and put them into regular use in my beauty routine. This is a look I created with Nars Sheer Glow, my trusty Zoeva Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette and Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Lovely. Some of those products were collecting dust but I really like the finished look!

Well, I think that concludes this month's coffee break!
Hope you all liked learning about me, and I'd love for you to tell me something interesting that has happened to you this month or something about yourself!
