Real-U is an Australian skincare brand with a well-developed but simplistic view towards skincare, three steps without the nasty chemicals. I was recently offered the opportunity to try out the range by the lovely owner Ebony, and was happy to trial these products which are specifically aimed at acne-prone and problem skin types like mine. Read on to find out what I think of this new skincare brand!
Real-U use a simple 1-2-3 step approach to skincare, in which you can choose different products to cleanse, control and hydrate the skin. Their range is specifically designed for acne-prone, problem or oily skin types. Personally I have combination skin that is only oily in my t-zone but I have been quite prone to hormonal breakouts in the past. I was sent three products to create a full three-step skincare routine including a cleanser, serum and moisturiser.
Cleanse Gentle Foaming Wash* ($15 AUD)
This is a very gentle gel cleanser that foams up nicely and cleans the skin really well. I found that it removed most of my makeup but some stubborn mascaras and eyeliners still needed a second round with an eye makeup remover, facial oil or micellar water. I like this cleanser because it's so gentle and doesn't strip the skin of it's natural oils which harsher acne cleansers often do.
Control+ Face Gel Serum* ($50 AUD)
A serum specifically designed to treat acne and blemishes without using any harsh chemicals like traditional topical acne creams such as benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. I was so happy to have tried out this serum. I have definitely experienced less breakouts and congestion while using this, especially around my period where I usually break out around my mouth/chin area. This bottle also contains a huge amount at 100ml so it would last you a very long time since you only need to use a pea-sized amount.
Hydrate Lite Moisturiser* ($20 AUD)
A great moisturiser for day or night that feels very light on the skin and doesn't clog your pores. My skin had a bit of a reaction to this one, it didn't seem to soak into my skin very well and I felt some irritation. It's a very light and thin consistency so it would be great to wear underneath makeup however it just didn't work for me. According to Real-U, this one is supposed to rebalance and replenish the skin with essential nutrients.
Overall, I think the Real-U skincare range is definitely worth checking out considering it's australian made, free from harsh chemicals and very affordable. It would be great for those of you who would like to follow a simple skincare routine and don't like using too many different products. This routine is very quick and easy to do and would make it easy to maintain for a fuss-free routine. I would recommend this for sensitive and irritated skin types since the products are very gentle. My favourite product was the Control+ Face Gel Serum* which I will continue to use and incorporate into my own skincare routine.
You can purchase these products individually or in a complete bundle along with a Remove Spot Treatment here, for just $75 ($113 value). That is definitely very cost-effective for an entire skincare regime.
