Save or Spend: 5 Reasons To Do A Beauty Swap

Today, I have another installment from my Save or Spend Series which I've been doing in collaboration with blogging bestie, Melissa from Loads of Lifestyle. A little while ago when I was clearing out my collection, I kept picking out bits and pieces that I knew would suit really well for a certain friend, and by the time I was done, I had created a nice little care package for Melissa that made me super excited to send it her way. Through discussion, we decided it was a good idea for us to do a beauty swap, where we both curate some lovely products that haven't been well-loved and create an exchange via the postman since Melissa lives several hours away from me. I had such a great experience from the beauty swap I wanted to write a post about it and maybe inspire you to do a swap as well.

February Monthly Favourites: 2016

This month has rolled around pretty quickly, and there was no shortage of new beauty releases. My favourites this month highlight all of the relatively new products in my life that I couldn't put down over the past few weeks. As you can see, I have been obsessed with warm tones and have dabbled in peaches, golds and coppers which just seemed to match the warm weather here in Brisbane. Lately, I have been going for long-lasting, full coverage foundation looks, minimal eyes and lots of glow. Keep on reading to find out more about the products pictured above and why I have been enjoying them.

5 Ways To Improve Your Blog Without Spending A Penny

I often get asked about how people might be able to improve their blog. How do I increase page views? How do I get more readers? How do I gain more comments on my posts? Many times peoples feel disheartened because they are just starting out and don't have much money to put towards things like photo equipment, props or advertising. I think one of the biggest misconceptions out there in relation to blogging is that you need to have a lot of money to be a great blogger. I'm here to tell you that you don't need the latest technical equipment, hottest new product releases or invites to VIP brand showcases to be a good blogger. The only things you need are: a passion for the topic you're talking about, a clear voice to communicate with your audience and a creative eye to draw some interest to your posts and express your content! For today's post, I thought I would outline some really simple but effective strategies to improve your blog that don't require any money, fancy equipment or special programs.

Foundation Failures: 6 Foundations That Didn't Work For Me

I always try to provide honest and balanced reviews here on Bows & Pleats, and I hope that is a reason why many of you are return visitors! I was looking through some of my latest posts and realised there have been lots of positive reviews, mainly because I love reviewing and sharing products that I genuinely love with you all. However, sometimes it's good to see thing from the flip side and let you know that many products don't work for me! I especially struggle with finding foundations to suit my combination skin. I get oily in my t-zone but can be dry on other parts of my face so finding a foundation that meets all my needs isn't an easy feat. Today, based on your votes from Instagram I am going to be taking you through 6 foundations that just didn't work for me and why!

Save or Spend: Project Pan 2016

In the next installation in my Save or Spend Series in collaboration with fellow beauty blogger Melissa, from Loads of Lifestyle we are both committing to a Project Pan this year! If you haven't read my last post from this series about 5 Ways to Spend Less When You're a Beauty Junkie, you can read it here.

If you are not familiar with the concept of Project Pan it is an awesome idea to help beauty enthusiasts get through more of their collection and to assist them to spend less money on makeup, and focus more on using up products in their existing collection. Typically for a Project Pan, most people choose 10 products that they have to use up completely before buying any more makeup products (besides necessities) although there are lots of variations to these rules. Read on to find out what I will be doing!

Malouf Pharmacies: Australian Brand Showcase Event

Although my dream is to one day become a full-time blogger and MUA, at the moment I'm still working full time and blogging on the weekends. Fortunately though, I was recently invited to attend the Malouf Pharmacies VIP Australian Brand Showcase Event where they were featuring lots of aussie beauty brands and giving bloggers, youtubers and other social media gurus the chance to meet with brands and see what new products will be launching over the next year, and giving all attendees a chance to network and share our love for some amazing Australian brands!

Beauty Bin: January Empties 2016

Hopefully you would have noticed by now that my blog has taken more of a beauty-conscious direction this year, meaning I want to use up more products in my collection, get through all my extras and backups and start rotating more of my beauty products as well. I am trying to put an end to my beauty hoarder ways, sell and give away items I don't use and have a collection that only contains the products that I love and use. Last year I seemed to post my empties posts sporadically but this year I am hoping to have a new empties post for each month, so I can keep track of how many products I am getting through each month. I want to review at the end of the year and see how many products I managed to get through. Let's see what I've managed to use up!

How to Get Healthy Nails: Sally Hansen 7-in-1 Nail Treatment Review

Sally Hansen is one of my favourite brands when it comes to nails and nail care. They have such a great range of formulas including Miracle Gel, Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear, and Complete Salon Manicure, all of which I really love. Recently, I was sent out the new Sally Hansen Complete Care 7-in-1 Nail Treatment* to trial, which claims to help restore dry, brittle nails and make them look healthier, shinier and more moisturised in just 3 days. I suffer from fairly brittle nails myself which I have been trying to work on and find products to give my nails more TLC, so I have put this treatment to the test. Read on to hear my thoughts!
