Rimmel The Only 1 Lipstick Collection: Review & Swatches

If you haven't already heard by now, Rimmel - one of the most affordable brands for lipsticks have just dropped a new lipstick formula! New shades are exciting, but new formulas definitely excite me even more! Rimmel's The Only 1 Lipstick Collection* definitely caught my eye with the bright shade offerings and the promise of moisture and comfort throughout wear. I was sent six shades to review, along with one of the new lip liner colours so keep reading if you're wondering what I think of this lipstick range.

I like the sleek black packaging of these, and the convenient stripe across the bullet to indicate colour is also handy. It's not my favourite packaging of all time in a lipstick, but I do like it better than some of Rimmel's previous releases such as the Lasting Finish by Kate Nude Collection which I felt was a little lackluster in terms of the packaging and design.

These feel quite smooth and glossy on the lips. Compared to my favourite NARS Audacious Lipsticks, they are a thinner consistency and slightly less opaque but they are still extremely pigmented and creamy. I found just one layer of will give you a full dose of colour. At first the lips feel quite wet and glossy but they do eventually set so the lipstick sits comfortably on the lips and feels moisturised.

I found that these lipsticks were quite difficult to apply with the flat top bullet applicator. I would have preferred a regular bullet shape for easier application in order to achieve a clean line. It's easy enough to use a lip brush but it's something I thought was worth mentioning. I have heard others who like the bullet shape and find it easier for them to apply so it's all personal preference. The lipstick formula glides on quite easily and is extremely pigmented without being drying at all.

Throughout wearing these lipsticks, my lips definitely felt super nourished and moisturised which I love! The glossy formula does cause these to transfer on to glasses and coffee cups, but I got away with 4-5 hours of wear without having to touch up again which is great for this type of moisturising formula.

As you can see, the shades are bright and pigmented and there should be something for everyone! I have 6 of the shades, but there are 12 available from the range and 15 if you are in the UK!

One Of A Kind - A burgundy, burnt red shade. This is a nice deep shade for those that like a darker red. It's not too cool, not too dark.

Revolution Red - A gorgeous cool-toned red. This is super pretty and probably not a shade I would have picked for myself but I really do like it a lot. Paired best with a smokey eye for full glam or a minimal eye look for a pop of sophistication.

Call Me Crazy - Does this one look familiar? If you're a MAC lover, you may recognize this because it is a dead set dupe for MAC Lady Danger! A gorgeous orange-red shade, save your money and pick this one up as a dupe. The formulas are different of course but the colour is almost identical.

Cheeky Coral - The most perfect summer shade, not too bright, but the perfect pop of colour that looks amazing with bronzed skin or a fake tan!

Pink A Punch - I may be biased because I am a huge pink lipstick lover so I feel like this shade suits me really well. A classic mid-toned pink that leans a little cool. I tried to find a dupe for this one in my collection but it was quite different than other shades I found.

Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner in Call Me Crazy

I already own and love many of these lipliners. I think they are the best formula around so I was happy to hear that 3 new shades have been released which are 102 Peachy-Beachy, 104 Call Me Crazy* and 05 Under My Spell. If you already own MAC Lady Danger, you should definitely pick up Call Me Crazy since they are a perfect match.

Final Verdict

If you're not a fan of matte lipsticks or generally find them too harsh or drying for your lips (like me), you will probably love this formula and the pigmented colours. These have a high shine, satin finish and I think they are gorgeous but they may not be for you if you prefer a matte finish. My favourite shades are definitely Cheeky Coral and Pink A Punch but I was super surprised with Revolution Red which I really liked on me as well.

Rimmel London The Only 1 Lipsticks* retail for $15.95 AUD and the Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner retails for $12.95 AUD. You can find out where to purchase these here. I think they are amazing quality for the price and I would highly recommend you pick up a few shades. I've got my eye on Naughty Nude!

Have you tried these lipsticks? What did you think? What are your favourite shades?
