Save or Spend: Project Pan 2016

In the next installation in my Save or Spend Series in collaboration with fellow beauty blogger Melissa, from Loads of Lifestyle we are both committing to a Project Pan this year! If you haven't read my last post from this series about 5 Ways to Spend Less When You're a Beauty Junkie, you can read it here.

If you are not familiar with the concept of Project Pan it is an awesome idea to help beauty enthusiasts get through more of their collection and to assist them to spend less money on makeup, and focus more on using up products in their existing collection. Typically for a Project Pan, most people choose 10 products that they have to use up completely before buying any more makeup products (besides necessities) although there are lots of variations to these rules. Read on to find out what I will be doing!

I have chosen 20 products that I want to use up, and I'm having a more realistic rule for me, which is that I can't buy any new products from that category until I finish up one of my project pan items. So if I have a lipstick in my Project Pan, I can't buy any other lipsticks until that one is used up first. It almost hurts to type these words!!! For my Project Pan 2016 I have chosen 1 setting spray, 3 primers, 2 foundations, 2 concealers, 1 highlighting pencil, 1 eyeshadow, 4 powders, 1 liquid liner, 3 mascaras, 1 lipstick and 1 lip pencil. All liquid items have been marked with a black line on the back of the product with how much product is left to mark progress.

Here are the items that I have chosen:

Project Pan 2016 Products

Skindinavia Bridal Makeup Finishing Spray - This is definitely my all time favourite setting spray and I feel like I can easily finish this and then I can be justified either trying another setting spray or just repurchasing this because it works so well at keeping makeup in place. This is a staple in my collection!

Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face Sunscreen - It is the middle of summer here in Australia so I figured I wouldn't have too much trouble finishing this facial sunscreen. I love how this one also acts as a primer and moisturiser in one and sits under makeup beautifully.

Bare Minerals Brightening Foundation Primer - One of my current favourite primers, I could happily use this everyday so I will aim to finish this one up as part of the project pan.

Stila One Step Illuminate - This is a great primer for when my skin is feeling dry or dull. It has the exact same consistency as the One Step Correct but has some more illuminating colours to add some glow to the skin.

Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation - This is a pretty good everyday foundation, although I find it doesn't last super well on me, with a decent primer I can make it work. This is a foundation I definitely want to get through so I can pick up a new one since I am always interested in trying out new base products.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation - A holy grail foundation for me, I am so sad that I don't have very much product left in my bottle. I already have a darker shade for when I am more tanned and will definitely be picking up a new bottle of this when it runs out!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof 12 Hour Concealer - A new favourite but is getting used up quickly. I love using this to conceal under my eyes.

Maybelline Dream Lumi Concealer - I used to be obsessed with this concealer but haven't used it much lately. It's great for highlighting.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Duality in Shell/Lace - I love using the shade shell to clean up my brow line. I haven't used lace much but it is a more shimmery shade. I wonder if I can finish these!

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Too Soon - This is no longer available on their website but one of my all time favourite CP shades from the Rebound palette. It has just the right amount of shimmer in a peachy pink shade.

Benefit Hello Flawless Powder - I used to be obsessed with this powder but haven't been reaching for it much anymore. I'd like to get through it so I can move on to some others.

Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder - Another powder I used to love but don't reach for as often. I went through a period of buying so many powders.

MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural - This is my HG setting powder. As you can see I don't have much left of this one but once I get through all my powders listed here, I will be repurchasing.

Youngblood Pressed Mineral Rice Setting Powder - This is a great powder if you have sensitive skin because it has all natural ingredients. Not too much more left to go on this one.

Maybelline Hypersharp Wing Liquid Eyeliner - This has totally replaced by love for Maybelline Master Precise and I prefer this one more. I will have no troubles using up this baby.

Rimmel Wonder'full Wake Me Up Mascara* - I have recently done a huge mascara dump and this one needs to be used up until I can move on to some others. I really like this one.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara by Kate Moss* - I've only used this one once or twice but need to get through it.

L'Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara - I got this mascara from Canada and it used to be a HG of mine so I have several backups and I still really love it for everyday use. It has a white coat (fibres/tubes) and then a mascara coat and it washes off so easily in the shower but doesn't budge during the day.

NARS Audacious Lipstick in Raquel - This has about 30% left so I do think I can finish it although I don't have a good record of finishing lipsticks. I would happily wear this everyday, it's the perfect nude for me.

Maybelline Color Drama Lipstick in Nude Perfection - The most perfect nude and a dupe for velvet teddy! I love this lip pencil.

Well, those are my picks to work on over the next 3-6 months. I am hoping I can get through these relatively quickly since I wear makeup almost every day. Let me know if you'd like a 3 month update on my progress with these products!

Project Pan is a great way to use up more of your collection, get through old favourites, and figure out what products are worth repurchasing. It also helps to curb spending habits when you can't always rush out to buy a new product, when you already have something similar lying at home. Stay tuned for the next installment of the Save or Spend Series coming up in 2 weeks!
