3 Underrated Foundations Definitely Worth Trying

Three of The Most Underrated Foundations You Should Try

Chances are at least once in your life, you have probably purchased a foundation solely on it's hype within the beauty community. Sometimes you love it, other times it may not be for you. Estee Lauder Double Wear, MAC Studio Fix Fluid and Too Faced Born This Way are all foundations that come to mind when I think of some bases which have been talked about and hyped up on many Beauty Blogs and YouTube channels. But what about all those little guys out there that don't get recognized or talked about? The discounted foundation you bought that turned out to be awesome? The foundation that you picked up randomly at the drugstore and then fell in love with? Today I'm talking about 3 very underrated foundations that I never hear much about but which I really like a lot and think are worth trying! Chi Chi Fabulous and Flawless Foundation Shade 5

Chi Chi Cosmetics Fabulous & Flawless Foundation - This is sort of between a drugstore and higher end foundation, with availability online, in Target as well as Myer stores. This foundation comes in an amazing 16 shades so it really does offer a great variety in skintones that is worth considering. This foundation is oil-free and feels very lightweight on application. Coverage is definitely medium but buildable to full and the finish is a soft matte. I find this foundation is great for everyday and looks very natural. I also find that it feels hydrating on the skin and would be suitable for most skin types. It does have a tendency to break down slightly in my t-zone after a full day, however for the price I really have little to complain about. This foundation has a light fragrance, which may be worth noting if you have allergies or sensitive skin. I really like the coverage of this foundation and find it covers up my redness and blemishes really well. I use the shade 5 which is for light-medium skin with neutral undertones. Shade 6 is quite similar but with yellow undertones which would probably have also suited me.

Chi Chi Foundation Shade 5

MaxFactor Ageless Elixir Foundation Golden 75

Max Factor Ageless Elixir 2 in 1 Foundation + Serum - This is one of those foundations that I randomly bought without reading any reviews or recommendations and I just fell in love with it! It's actually aimed at more mature skin and is marketed as an anti-aging foundation, but honestly it has the most beautiful satin finish and a gorgeous medium coverage. This foundation is great for everyday use and includes SPF 15. It gives a very natural and dewy look, but still works really well on my combination skin. The shade range is quite limited with only 5 different shades, which is a disadvantage. I use the shade Golden 75. If you read my recent January Empties Post, you would have seen that I ran out of this foundation and have since repurchased it. The packaging for this foundation is great for travel, with a very light, plastic bottle and a pump applicator. I would highly recommend you try this one! It may not be suitable if you are extremely oily since it is a dewy, satin finish and may break down on you more easily.

Napoleon Perdis Stroke of Genius Liquid Cashmere Foundation

Finally, the Napoleon Perdis Stroke of Genius Foundation was a recommendation for me from the gorgeous Amea May from Amea May Beauty. I was looking for a foundation that is medium to full coverage, but not as heavy on the skin as the Estee Lauder Double Wear and that lasts well in warmer temperatures. This foundation definitely delivers. As you can see from the worn off label on the packaging, it has been well loved, The packaging is terrible ... whoever thought the built in brush applicator was a good idea, or even remotely sanitary was definitely not thinking clearly. However, I just squeeze out enough foundation onto the back of my hand and apply it using a regular foundation brush. I also regularly clean the brush tip to prevent bacteria from forming, Such a pain, but the formula is worth the struggle! With this foundation. a little goes a LONG way, and you only need a small amount for an amazing amount of coverage. This would definitely suit those with combination skin like myself as well as oily gals. It lasts amazingly well throughout the day and doesn't require touch ups for me. It makes your skin look so good! I always get compliments when I wear this foundation. The finish is a demi matte. The shades are yellow toned, and are also limited to 5 shades. I use Look 2. You can read more about this one which was mentioned in my October/November Favourites 2015.
