July Coffee Break: 2016

Well, it's officially August and time for me to give you all a recap of what I've been up to over the past few weeks outside of my blogging world! Everytime I sit down to write these posts, I think I'll b left with nothing new to report and then once I begin writing, I feel like they go on forever! I hope you don't find them too boring. As long as you're still finding them interesting, I'll keep writing them! If you haven't caught my other posts from the Coffee Break Series, you can read them here.

One of the most exciting things to happen to me this month was that I had my Citizenship ceremony. I am officially an Australian and after such a long process and journey to get to this point, this is a huge accomplishment for me, and also a very emotional thing! As many of you know, I moved to Australia from Canada to be with my now husband. We first started dating when I was only 18, and when we decided to begin the process for me to move to Australia, all the visa applications and other paperwork we had to complete was so overwhelming. I'm glad to say it was all worthwhile and it feels amazing that everything is 100% official now. So happy!

Next up, I was lucky enough to be invited to a luncheon this month with MooGoo who also represent Dusty Girls with Sammy and Gabby from these brands. If you'd like to know more about Dusty Girls, I've got a previous blog post about their products here. It was great to have a more in depth overview of all the products offered from Dusty Girls and MooGoo and also what projects they are currently working on. We also discussed tips for living a healthy and toxic free lifestyle, including switching up some of your regular products like shampoo or deodorant with products which are free from chemicals and nasties. We enjoyed a lovely healthy lunch at Miss Bliss Wholefoods Kitchen which was delicious. If you're looking for a nice cafe to try in Brisbane or somewhere to meet a friend, I would definitely recommend it. I was also lucky enough to win best flat lay of the day from the event!

In general, this has been a really good month for me. I mentioned on Snapchat (bowsandpleats) that I was successful in getting an 8 week role as acting manager at my current job so that has been both really positive, but also challenging and stressful. As a way to try to manage my stress levels, my husband Michael and I have been trying to do more fun things on the weekend and get out of the house more to explore the city. A few weekends ago, we spent the day exploring around Southbank and we did so much walking, and sightseeing, it was a lovely day. It's always fun to challenge yourself to be a tourist in your own city. For me, I always feel like I am discovering new places to visit and sights to see since I moved to Brisbane in 2012.

I've also recently been super obsessed with the idea of Bullet Journalling, which is basically a notebook that you turn into a personalised diary that suits all of your needs to record your tasks, appointments, lists, etc. If you're anything like me, you have gone through countless diaries and agendas, but often stop using  them after a few months because the layout just doesn't suit your needs and you feel like you need additional notebooks/calendars. The idea of the bullet journal is to make it fit your needs. There are so many creative ideas on Pinterest and dedicated YouTube channels for people that are active in Bullet Journalling. Just search it on YouTube and you will get lost in all the creativity! I am hoping I can keep it up this month.

Another massive accomplishment for me this month is that I FINALLY have completed my makeup course!!! This was a 4 month course that required me to get up early every Saturday and give up my entire day 9am-3:30pm to dedicate myself to the course. This was super difficult, challenging and also really took a toll on me in terms of stress levels and even getting everything done with my blog. It's all over now, and I am so happy that I am all done. If you'd like to know more about the course I did, I have recently written a full blog post about my experience here.

Well, I think that about sums up my month pretty well! For more personal updates regarding my life, be sure to follow me on Snapchat! I don't post on there as much as I would like, but I do try to show you updates as much as I can. I hope you enjoyed this month's Coffee Break and I'll chat with you all soon!
