Jaclyn Hill: Ride or Die Makeup Tag

The Ride or Die Makeup Tag created by Jaclyn Hill has been one of my favourite tags going around lately. I loved her video which you can view here, where she goes through a list of products she would choose to take with her if she was on a deserted island. You can only choose one single product from each category which makes things extremely difficult! #firstworldproblems. Keep reading to find out what products I chose for this tag!

My friend Kate from Kflowermaquillage who is a fellow beauty blogger wanted to do this tag as well so we decided to do a collaboration for this post to offer you two different perspectives. If you'd like to check out Kate's post, you can read it here.

Ride or Die Makeup Tag | Jaclyn Hill

PRIMER | I found this one really hard, but one primer that I can always rely on to keep my makeup lasting all day and night is the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer, pricey at $81 AUD for 30ml.

FOUNDATION | This one was also extremely hard because I have about 5 foundations that work really well for me. I trusted my instincts, and the one foundation that just doesn't let me down for a big event is the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation which retails for $58 AUD.

CONCEALER | I definitely could not live without the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer which just gives the perfect amount of coverage, blends out seamlessly and comes in a bunch of different shades. This one retails for $46 AUD but is worth every penny.

FACE POWDER | The MAC Cosmetics Mineralize Skinfinish Natural is a close second, but I had to go with the one I use the most which is the Australis Fresh and Flawless Pressed Powder. A steal at just $12.95 AUD.

UNDER EYE SETTING POWDER | I love using the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Face Palette to highlight under my eyes using the shades lucid and lyric. I generally mostly use lyric which is the banana shade and proving to be very popular amongst many beauty junkies. The palette retails for $64 AUD.

BROWS | Although not including in Jaclyn's tag, I had to choose a brow product since without my brows, I would be an empty shell! This was probably one of the hardest categories for me. The Benefit Precisely, My Brow is quickly becoming HG for me. However, I went with a tried and true favourite with my Benefit Brow Zings* in shade medium 4 - the one shown here is in the new packaging but I have almost completely finished one of these in the older packaging and the addition of tweezers and a spoolie could come in handy on a deserted island! This kit retails for $55 AUD.

BLUSH | For blush, I was certainly torn between a few, with my MAC Cosmetics Blush in Warm Soul getting an honorable mention. However, the palette I haven't been able to put down this year is the Becca Afterglow Palette, and I love mixing Wild Honey and Flowerchild together for the perfect custom blush shade. The palette retails for $70 AUD. You can buy the single shades for $50 AUD each.

BRONZER | I feel like there should maybe be separate categories for contouring and bronzing. For a contour I mainly use Benefit Hoola Bronzer, however if I only had to choose one, I would choose my IT Cosmetics CC+ Radiance Ombre Bronzer which I have fallen in love with this year. It gives the most perfect glow and warmth to the cheeks and is effortless to blend. This bronzer will knock you back $54 AUD.

HIGHLIGHT | Again, for highlighter my favourite shade has been mixing together Moonstone and Rose Gold from the Becca Afterglow Palette to create my own custom shade. Becca Champagne Pop would be my second choice. Basically anything Becca ... You can buy the single shades for $60 AUD each.

MASCARA | With Maybelline Lash Sensational definitely being a strong runner up, I had to go with Benefit Roller Lash as this mascara just looks amazing on me and makes me look like I have falsies on with little to no effort! This one costs $42 AUD but I swear it is worth it.

LIPSTICK |  Of course, I love my MAC Cosmetics lipsticks, however if we are going with one particular shade and formula for the rest of my life I would have to choose the NARS Audacious Lipstick in Raquel which is creamy, pigmented and so comfortable on the lips. I love this shade and it's my perfect nude colour. These are pricey at $48 AUD each but they're so good!!!

LIQUID LIP | I definitely do love both my ColourPop (ultra satin are my fave) and Jeffree Star lippies, my absolute favourite shade and most comfy formula is the Ofra Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in Aries, which is part of their collaboration with YouTuber MannyMUA. This shade is the ultimate nude with peach-pink undertones and it's stunning! These retails for $19.90 USD.

Lip Favourites (L-R): Nars Audacious Lipstick in Raquel, Ofra Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in Aries and NARS Lipgloss in Orgasm

LIP GLOSS | I'm not a massive lip gloss person, but I do really love my NARS Lip Gloss in Orgasm which is the prettiest peach shade with subtle golden shimmer that pairs nicely over almost any lipstick. I have a mini size which I received in a Mecca Beauty Loop Box, but the full size retails for $39 AUD.

LASHES |  This was also a hard one but I definitely prefer the brand Model Rock over any other lash brand. Some of my favourite styles include #411, #237 and Sunny Sunday. My current favourite are the #219's which add volume, length and drama but still look natural enough for me. These range from $6.95 to $11.95 AUD each.

EYESHADOW PALETTE |  OMG!!! This was like trying to pick your favourite child. I just went with my gut and picked an eyeshadow palette that was the only palette I took with me when I went overseas for 6 weeks for my honeymoon. The Zoeva Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette would leave me with endless options if it was the only palette I ever used again. At just $36.20 AUD, if you don't already own this palette, you don't know what you're missing!

SETTING SPRAY |  I swear by the Skindinavia Bridal Setting Spray for big nights out and a long-lasting finish, but my most used setting spray is definitely the Urban Decay Chill Hydrating Setting Spray which adds a bit of dewiness and glow to any look and keeps my skin hydrated and feeling fresh. I have gone through so many bottles of this and I think it's worth the money at $49 AUD each.

Vera Wang Perfume Lovestruck EDP

PERFUME | My favourite perfume brand is definitely Vera Wang, as I pretty much love all of her scents. My number one favourite is Vera Wang Lovestruck EDP which is so pretty! I have just purchased my third bottle. The one costs $69 AUD for 50ml. This scent is musky, fruity and floral all in one. A very unique scent, it contains notes of exotic and juicy pink guava and soothing angelica blossom. The middle notes contain tuberose with aquatic lotus flower. Precious woody notes and sheer musk form a solid perfume base. So good!!!
