September Monthly Favourites: 2016

I struggled a little to compile this month's beauty favourites since I have definitely been sticking to the wide array of amazing products that I have discovered over the past few months. I have found some great base staples that really work for me, and have been sticking to the same lip and mascara combinations. This month I have mostly been trialing out a few new skincare bits here and there and dabbling in new eyeshadows. Keep reading to find out the products I've been enjoying this month!

A foundation that I have been loving over the past 3-4 months is the Stila Stay All Day Foundation which offers amazing full coverage with a matte finish. This is a super long-wearing foundation, quite comparable to Estee Lauder Double Wear and lasts amazingly well in the heat and humidity. I went through about 5 samples at Mecca Cosmetica before I committed to the full-sized bottle. This was mainly due to the steep price tag and the fact that I didn't need another foundation but this one is a great option if you want seamless, full-coverage.

The shade range isn't the best and if you are pale, or you don't like yellow-toned foundations that is probably where this one will fail you. I am in the shade 2 fair, and it definitely is more of a light-medium shade that runs quite yellow. I also love the addition of the concealer on top which I use to spot conceal blemishes.

Another staple in my collection has been the Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face Superscreen SPF50+ which is an awesome facial sunscreen that moisturises the skin and sits really well under primer and foundation. I received this in full-size as my free birthday gift from Mecca as part of their Beauty Loop Rewards and it's such a great product! I am trying to remember to wear SPF every day and this product definitely makes it easy and compliments makeup really well.

If you read one of my latest blog posts on My Favourite Foundation & Illuminator Combos, you'd know that the Rimmel Good to Glow in 001 Notting Hill Glow* has quickly become one of my favourite drugstore liquid illuminators. It mixes in beautifully with any foundation, especially full-coverage, matte foundations as it changes up the finish and adds a gorgeous glow to the skin. It can be really difficult to find some decent drugstore highlighter options so I think this one is a great find.

For any of you major Bath and Body Works fans, I need to let you know that their Party Dress Scented Candle is so good!!! It has become one of my all-time favourite scents. This particular design was limited edition from 2015, so I don't think you can purchase it anymore which is a shame and I am sad I waited so long to burn this one because I would have bought more! The scent is a blend of orchid petals, white peony, and soft jasmine so it's very feminine and warm.

A new product that I've been really enjoying in terms of skincare, is the Skinstitut Multi-Active Mist* which I've been spraying in the morning or evening as the first step in my routine before any kind of moisturiser. I have a tendency to ignore these types of products as mists can sometimes feel like a waste of time or a useless step. However recently my skin felt really dull and dry and I started to use this mist and it instantly felt relieved and really made a big difference. This mist contains vitamin b3, ginseng, green tea and licorice root and feels very nourishing on the skin. Now that I have started to use it, there isn't much left in the bottle and I love spraying this on my skin each night after cleansing and before my serums and moisturisers.

Another skincare gem that I have recently discovered is the Medik8 Retinol 1 TR Cream* which has a scary title but the contents inside are absolutely amazing and I have really been blown away by this product. This is a nighttime cream that mixes powerful Retinol (Vitamin A) together with a rich moisturiser to combat the early signs of aging. Retinol is also an amazing ingredient to use to improve uneven skin tone and texture by promoting healthy skin cell turnover. This moisturiser also contains hyaluronic acid and glycerin to boost skin's hydration, elasticity and support the skin's natural barrier function. I love how rich the cream feels going on the skin and it really produces great results. I wake up after using this to my skin looking more plump, hydrated and a more even skintone. This product is like a serum and a moisturiser combined into one which I really love!

Following on from my skincare discoveries, one last skincare item I have been enjoying is the Bioderma Sensibio Tonique* which is an ultra-gentle toner that you apply to your face after cleansing to help prep the skin to better soak in moisturising products. I like how gentle this toner feels on the skin compared to other toners that I have tried which contain alcohol or have caused my skin to become red and irritated. It helps to refresh and hydrate the skin and has also assisted my skin to feel less congested and inflamed when I've had breakouts. This product also takes off any excess oil, dirt or makeup you may have missed from your initial cleansing. I think this is a great little multi-tasker and great to have in your skincare collection.

Finally, a product you have all probably heard lots about is the Violet Voss Holy Grail Eyeshadow Palette which is a stunning 20 pan eyeshadow palette that is any warm eyeshadow lover's dream! I have had my eyes on this palette for some time now but it was constantly selling out on their website so I ended up purchasing mine from Beauty Bay when they began stocking the brand. I had pretty high expectations of this palette after it had received so much hype from instagram and beauty YouTubers. All I can say is that it totally exceeded my expectations! It is crazy pigmented, with one of the nicest selections of warm tones I have ever set my eyes on that includes practical mattes and stunning metallic and shimmery shades. I love all the burnt orange and burgundy colours, similar to the ABH Modern Renaissance Palette but I think I tend to use this one even more. I plan to do a full review of this palette so I'll just leave my mini review there but this palette is the bomb!!!

Well, that is my September roundup! Definitely more skincare and random items this month than too many makeup newbies, but as always I only share the products I have actually loved and newly discovered. I am already thinking about what products I want to include in my top favourites for 2016 which is crazy to imagine! I hope you've all had an amazing month and I will talk to you in my next post!
