October Monthly Favourites: 2016

Hey guys! So if you have been following me on social media, you'd know that I just got back from a lovely two week trip to New Zealand with my parents who are visiting me from Canada! We had such a great time and I am hoping to catch up with you all soon in an upcoming September/October Coffee Break! I have been so busy with my parents visiting that I haven't had a chance to chat with you lately. I'm so sorry about that! Never fear, I made sure that my October Favourites post would be up and ready to go for you all! I have actually been doing really well with paring down my spending, and only one of these items is a new purchase. Some are new releases that were sent via PR samples but I am trying to save my money for some of the new Christmas releases I know I will want to purchase. Keep reading to find out what I've been loving this month.

First up, this little bottle of Kosmea Rose Glow Body Oil* was kindly sent to me and was pending trial when my mom picked it up from my makeup room and tried it out on her legs as they were feeling very dry and needing some TLC. When I got home from work that day she stated, "you need to blog about this product!" She said that it made her skin feel silky smooth and worked almost instantly. She was so impressed by only needing a few drops of this and rubbing it in made her dry skin feel instantly better. I tried it out for myself and it's a beautiful body oil, that works well without feeling too heavy on the skin. It contains rosehip, rose and avocado oils which nourishes the skin. I would highly recommend this if you suffer from dry skin or need a nourishing boost for your body!

Next up, The Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette in Golden Goddess is my first product from the brand. I actually purchased it by accident on Beautylish, when I was going through the checkout process to see how much the items would be when converted from USD to AUD. I must have went one step too far because before I knew it, this baby was purchased! I was very skeptical of this palette due to the high pricetag of $52 USD. It is a stunning palette, and I truly love every shade, but I don't think it is worth the amount of money I spent. I think it is better value to get a larger palette from Urban Decay, Stila, Zoeva or start your own Makeup Geek palette.

However, I do love this palette and am including it in my favourites because I have been using it a lot over the past month. I found the bottom left shade was especially misleading, since it looks very different in the pan than it does swatched, or on the eyes. I like it better swatched, which I was happy about! These are great everyday tones that you can wear any day, any time which I was hoping when I was looking at this palette.

Something that I did pick up while I was in duty free was this mini Benefit Dandelion Box of Powder, which I have used before in small samples but I wanted to try it out again in a mini version. This powder is a great universal blush that would suit most skin types. It is also suggested that you can use this as an all over brightening powder but I find it to be too pinky toned to do this. It's a great no-fuss blush that is easy to pop on and wear every day if you want to.

Another fave of mine is this gorgeous lipstick from Rimmel to celebrate their 15th Anniversary Collection with Kate. This Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick was kindly sent to me by amazing friend Melissa from Loads of Lifestyle. She sent me the shade #056 Boho Nude, which is stunning and just a slightly darker shade than my lips. I have been seriously wearing this shade almost every day for the past month because it is so moisturising and nourishing on the lips while providing a great colour for my lips. This colour would have been available in the regular Rimmel x Kate collaborations, however the anniversary edition comes in rose gold packaging! It's so pretty and worth buying under $15 AUD each and often on sale!

A new skincare item I have introduced into my routine, and took with me on my trip is the Australian Skin Institute Pure Potent-C Clearing Lotion*, which was sitting in my PR drawer collecting dust. I figured this would be a great all-rounder to take with me on my travels since it seems to provide moisture, while also treating and preventing breakouts which is perfect for me to apply after cleansing during the evenings. I have been using this every evening and have noticed a big difference in my skin. My redness and irritation has reduced and I haven't had many blemishes either. I will continue to use this. This brand is available exclusively at Brazilian Beauty Salons, so if you'd like to get your hands on it you just need to visit your nearest salon.

Keeping on the same line with skincare, on my trip I also brought along with me a few items from a travel pack that I received from Uni Organics called the Luxe Travel Kit* which I had tried out only a few times and picked my favourite products to bring with me. The kit includes the Perfectly Clean Daily Cleanser* 30ml which is a great cleanser for removing makeup and is really sensitive on the eyes. I also used the Fresh Focus Gentle Face Exfoliator* 30ml which uses cranberry and apricot seeds to get rid of dead skin cells on the face and provide a gentle exfoliation. Finally, at night I would apply the Restore Anti-Aging Face Serum* 15ml which is such a perfect size for travel and includes a pump. This serum provides the skin with intense nourishment and encourages a luminous glow to the skin.

I really enjoyed using these products on my trip and will consider buying some of these in a full-size when I run out or I may even re-purchase the individual travel sizes that are available on their website because the sizes are so convenient to have on hand for trips, knowing you are getting great quality skincare in a small size and not having to depot a million products!

Finally, some products that I was lucky enough to receive from NYX cosmetics that I have been testing out and really enjoying are the NYX HD Finishing Powder* and the NYX Pore Filler Primer*. The finishing powder is so tiny and cute, perfect for travel and a great size (3.3g) to pop in your makeup bag for setting your under eyes and also brightening under the eyes. I love the size of this little powder and I will definitely repurchase when I run out. It is finely milled and works perfectly to set my undereye concealer.

The Pore Filler primer is also a mini size (11g) and not a primer that I would usually go for as I tend to look for more hydrating all over face primers. However, after trying it out, I often use this in conjunction with another more hydrating primer and concentrate this one around my nose and t-zone to prevent additional oil and shine. This primer has come in handy while it becomes warmer and more humid here in Brisbane and I feel like my makeup is going to melt off! This is a silicone-based primer, similar to the Porefessional from Benefit but I like it a lot better since it is lighter and less greasy, and also much cheaper!

Overall, I thought this month was a great month for testing and trialing new products in my collection and discovering some great new items to add into my regular routines. I'm already starting to think about my beauty favourites for the year and it's going to be so hard to decide!!! Would you like to see a makeup favourites and separate skincare favourites again this year? Let me know! You can see last year's favourites | here | and here |

Hope you all had a fantastic October and as always please leave me a link below if you have written about your monthly favourites, otherwise let me know what you have been loving this month!
