January Monthly Favourites: 2017

Well, it's that time again!!! Monthly favourites time! I struggled a little bit to get an assortment of goodies together to share with you this month. I feel like I have kept things very streamlined with my makeup and skincare, and my skin has been loving me for it! *knock on wood* I did manage to pull out a few highlights to chat with you about, including some stationery! Hopefully my organisation lovers will appreciate it. Keep reading to find out what I've been loving in January.

This month I have been really enjoying starting a new diary/planner and although I liked and still use my Bullet Journal, I have found myself really needing to have a small reference book to have dates written out and monthly layouts already completed. I still like my journal for notes, lists and collections but this is great just to keep track of appointments and upcoming events. I have ordered this customised diary from May Designs, as you can see it has my initials on the front which is super cool. It's a super thin and light diary that is roughly B5 size (7.5" x 9.75"), which is slightly bigger than A5. I find it to be the perfect size for me and I love how thin it is so it is easy to keep in my bag for daily scribbles.

The layout is very minimal but cute. The diary has a calendar at the front for 2017 so you can see your year at a glance. It also has two pages at the front for recording your goals for the year with specific questions to prompt you. It has a different mindfulness coloring page for you to colour in every 3 months with the adjacent page on the other side to record birthdays for 3 months. Each month has a two page monthly view, and then there are weekly layouts to 1 page. At first I thought this wouldn't be enough room for me but I actually like seeing a week to a page now. I still use a separate notebook for general lists/notes. The shipping from May Designs to Australia was really pricey so I added mine to a US order that I completed several months ago now. That is probably the way to go if you are wanting to try one out from them. The inside pages are completely customisable so you can choose what your diary looks like. I am an organisation junkie and this has been really meeting my needs throughout the month and hopefully for the rest of the year.

By far my favourite base for the month and for the past 6-8 weeks has been the Maybelle Dewy + Smooth Foundation. I really didn't have high expectations for this product but I decided to buy it on a whim when Maybelline was 50% off at Chemist Warehouse. I picked up the shade 'Sandy Beige' which is perfect for when I'm tanned during the summer. It will definitely be too dark for me once my tan fades however. I love how this foundation looks very natural and glowy, without being greasy. The coverage is medium to full, which I really like and I have been wearing this as my daily foundation to work. I set with a powder, focusing mainly around my t-zone. Considering it is a more satin, dewy foundation it holds up really well throughout an 8-10 hour day. I would definitely recommend this one for normal, dry or combo skin types.

My favourite setting powder this month has been a new addition I received in my Beautylish Lucky Bag. I was already a huge fan of IT Cosmetics, so no surprise really that this product totally exceeded my expectations. The IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Silk HD Anti-Aging Micro Powder is a handful to say, but this is an awesome product! You only need a very small amount to set your whole face, and it blends in seamlessly, like silk providing a little extra coverage as well. I am usually not a fan of loose setting powders, and haven't found many that I like or use regularly but I am obsessed with this one and would highly recommend it!

At the Christmas Bloggers Lunch I attended back in November (read my November Coffee Break here), we were kindly gifted with some products from Nuxe. I haven't tried too many products from the brand before so I was excited for these skincare items. I am happy to report that I have been loving both!

The NUXE Contour Des Yeux Prodigieux* is an anti-aging, moisturising, eye cream that reduces puffiness and dark circles. It is definitely one of the best eye creams I have ever used. I love the creamy consistency and it does not sting or bother my eyes at all. I apply this before I go to bed, and always wake up with a refreshed under eye area. I have been using this religiously over the past few weeks and have really fallen in love with the product. It has certainly reduced the darkness under my eyes as well, although my circles weren't too bad to begin with.

The NUXE Crème Prodigieuse Enrichie Anti-fatigue Moisturizing Cream* is an anti fatigue moisturising cream that nourishes and provides comfort for dry skin. I don't feel like my skin is overly dry but this cream feels so luxurious and does not leave any stickiness or tackiness, it just sinks right into the skin. This facial cream works really well under foundation or worn alone. This one does have a strong floral scent, which may bother some but it doesn't sting or bother my skin whatsoever.

I've already talked about the Ofra Cosmetics x Manny MUA Liquid Lipsticks, and included Aries in my Best of Beauty 2016. I have been really loving the shade Charmed, which is a pink-nude mauve shade and darker than Aries. I feel like this is the perfect dusty rose shade, and I also love the formula of this liquid lipstick, it is so creamy and comfortable and doesn't flake off as the day progresses. If you haven't already checked out these liquid lipsticks, I would highly recommend them!!!

Zoeva Cosmetics have not disappointed me over the past few months, with some gorgeous new eyeshadow releases!!! This brand definitely speaks to me, and their eyeshadows have certainly reached holy grail status, with the Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette (left) being in my top favourites of all time.

The Zoeva Blanc Fusion Palette (right) is a new release from the brand that contains cool-toned neutrals and yellow accents. I am definitely more of a warm-toned lover, but these are some of the most gorgeous cool-toned eyeshadow I have seen in a palette for a very long time. This palette contains 5 mattes, 3 satins, 1 metallic and 1 pearl. It has a great twist to the traditional neutral palette with pops of yellow and a purple-toned espresso shade.

The Zoeva Caramel Melange Palette (middle) contains a stunning mixture of warm-toned shimmers, mattes, metallic and satins. It really does remind me of the Cocoa Blend palette and seems like its more glamorous sister. I absolutely adore the metallic shades, Liquid Centre and Almost Burnt. They are so pigmented and beautiful no the lids. I also feel like this palette contains some beautiful transition shades, making it perfect for everyday use. It contains 6 matte shades, 2 pearl shades and 2 metallic shades. I think this palette really represents the perfect range of finishes to achieve a balanced makeup look, which I find is always missing from an all matte, or all shimmer palette.

I am thinking I should do a full review on these two palettes for you so stay tuned and let me know if you would like to see full swatches of each shade.

I hope you enjoyed a look through my monthly favourites. I would love to know what products you have been enjoying this month as well. Please let me know if you would like a full review of any of these products, I am thinking the Zoeva palettes would be a good one to review with lots of swatches to drool over.

Hope you all have a great day. What was a stand out product for you this month?
